Steelworx 22 LR Steel Snap Caps Dummy Rounds

Just what I wanted for dry firing my 22’s.

Well made. Good quality.. they do what they are designed to do.

Besides allowing for dry firing and uncocking without firing pin damage, these slightly blunt snap caps were excellent for safely identifying the problems with an aftermarket slide. The manufacturer recommended only round nose bullets. I had to find out why. The problem was with their magazines.

Unfortunately they did not work. Extremely high quality, just a touch short and wouldn't feed in my AR-7. I bought them so I could practice quick magazine changes, charging, and clearing the rifle. But either it's due to the "lead" not being as wide in diameter or the slight difference in length? I actually couldn't get a single one to feed out of 24 and yes my rifle does feed normal rounds like a champ! I mean it's a Henry after all!I did a ton of research before I bought them, because I normally buy snapcaps. However, snapcaps are .22 short and ALL plastic(I assume due to not being able to add a spring mechanism to a rimfire) These seem to work wonderfully for everyone else. I'm just assuming they didn't feed due to the tight & striped down tolerances of the rifle.I docked them one star for this, I was going to just do 3* because it's dead center but I know that really hurts a product. And like I said build quality is amazing, they loaded into the magazine extremely easy, and have a similar weight profile(just by feel, I did not weigh them)So I would say they will probably work in everything else, but if you're buying them specifically for an AR-7 then they won't work.

They work as described

I purchased these to teach my children about gun safety and to demonstrate how to load/unload my eldest son's first rifle, a Ruger 10/22. Others have stated the bases were too large, but that is not the case. The bottom rim of the case is really the only thing about these that is made to specification, it is the diameter of the case body and the faux projectile that are made incorrectly. They are far too small and when loaded into a 10/22 rotary magazine the small diameter causes the tips to dip below the feed ramp of the mag so they will not load or chamber into the rifle. They worked OK with other rifles that I own with tube magazines, but will not work in removable mags. I had a difficult time extracting them manually from the mag, had to pry up the tip of the round while pressing them out with my finger. I would not waste my time on these, coupled with the reported damage to firing pins by other reviewers I would look elsewhere for a better product. I am way past my return date so in the trash these will go!

Work great and they feel like real ammo and work great in my rifles and pistols.

I use these snap caps in my 22 rifle and 22 semi-auto and like them a lot.These snap caps not only make dry fire training safe, but also take care of the firearm's firing pin.
