Shaving Soap WSP Formula T (Tobacco) 4 Oz Made with Shea Butter & Tallow

This is my first time trying any of the shave soaps in this line. I bought it largely because I'm looking for a good soap with a great tobacco scent. I've only shaved with this one time but it's easy to see it's a great shaving soap. As far as the scent goes, It doesn't really smell anything like tobacco to me. At first whiff, I thought I didn't like the smell but on subsequent sniffs I started to warm up to it. Once I lathered up with it, I realized that I do in fact like the scent but it still doesn't smell like tobacco to me.Another reviewer said it smells like wet cedar. I think that's close. I also smell some orange in there.Regardless, the scent doesn't seem to linger that long.

I've been shaving with soap and a brush for about five years now, so I've tried out plenty of shaving soaps from both artisans and the big companies. The WSP Formula T is a pretty good one.I ordered the Tobacco scent which is not a pipe tobacco, or smokey scent, it's a very green tobacco scent that smells wonderful. This soap isn't as hard as a triple milled soap, nor as soft as a "croap", I'd say it's somewhere in the middle. It's easy to load with your brush and produces a pretty slick, and protective lather without a whole lot of effort.If I have any complaint it's not about the actual soap, but the size of the container the soap is in. Make no mistake the container is filled to the top with product, however by my comparison the metal container is smaller than even a wooden bowl from D.R. Harris, AOS, or any other. I'd personally prefer and little wider and shorter container making it easier to get your brush in when loading it, especially when the soap starts to wear down some from use. All I use is a Simpson Duke 3, so not a particularly big brush I'm taking about either.

Works well and has a decent cushion. Good and slippery even though it doesn’t make a thick rich lather. The smell is pleasant and manly but a little too strong for me personally. It definitely doesn’t smell like I thought it would with a name like Tobacco.

Nice subtle scent. Excellent lather whipping it up makes it better in my opinion. And because of this; I wish it was a puck vs in a can.

I have been wet shaving for the past six years and I really enjoy it,, I have never used a better shaving soap than WSP products. Lathers quite nice and the scent is fantastic I used to buy the regular tobacco rustic from WSP and I really like it. It's my first time to order this tobacco formula T, I love the scent even more because it has like more depth to it, & it's more aromatic. ,,, I think it's my new favorite shaving soap!

I've used a good number of different shave soaps over the years, including WSP, non-Formula T varieties. I'm about two weeks into this Formula T tin and am amazed. With an older blade or a new blade each shave is more comfortable and closer than any shave with any other soap before. I have the Tobacco scent and really enjoy it. Highly recommended.

It's strangely tempting to occasionally switch from a perfectly good product and try something different. So I tried this formula t sandalwood shaving cream. It was a big mistake. Well actually not such a big mistake but a mistake non the less. It just refused to create a sudsy soapy shaving surface, almost no lather whatsoever. So back to my previous sandalwood shaving cream supplier. Lesson learned.

To me the Tobacco scent is of cedar and leather with a hint of wooden cigar box. It's warm, woodsy, and masculine. The lather is slick and thick, it provides a comfortable shave with a safety or straight razor. I will purchase the soap again when it runs out. Hope this helps.
