better than expected.
I am an avid back country hiker. My pack on average weighs 50lb so finding lightweight and reliable equipment is always a priority for me. Historically, I have always paid the extra bucks for a known and respected brand until this purchase. I travel with an MSR reactor and a pocket rocket for a complete kitchen system. I purchased this product to enhance my camping experience since I already carry isopro canisters. For illumination, I rely solely on a headlamp. Considering this lantern will not be my primary source of illumination, I decided to take a chance on an "unknown" brand figuring if it fails, I can still complete my backcountry objectives. So now that you have the back-story, here are my thoughts:1. The product arrived as promised.2. Instructions were in Chinese with no pictures. Worthless.3. installing the mantle is no different than most systems. There is however, a more practical way to get the bulb to shrink evenly. i suggest looking on yotube.4. I got mine to work perfectly the first time with little effort.5. the chain is annoying to hang the lantern. i will most likely remove and adapt with a carabiner of some sort.6. at 5.3oz, its well worth the weight.7. at low setting, the brightness is perfect.8. at high setting, you can boil a pot over it. I did not attempt this but its a ridiculous flame jetting through the top of the lantern.9. pay the few bucks and forget the glass. i have the metal screen and the brightness is perfect.

Really cool to camp
Works great to camp. Puts out alot of heat while on. Really good for emergency situations. Compact, good for the price. Would buy again and again.

Nice lamp for the money
Pros: Small, compact, unbreakable so easy to stuff anywhere in your pack. Decent light output for the size.Cons: As others have commented, the chain will break the first time you use it. It looks like steel but it is actually chrome plated copper which can't take the heat.I don't recommend using this with a butane "spray can" adapter. It gets really hot and the rubber seal and plastic parts may not be able to take it.

Excellent version of a Primus type lantern.
The lantern burns really well - with good fuel control, culminating in an overall excellent performance utility for the back country. Not heavy, comes in a case with a wonderful chain to hang the lantern from. It's intuitive and easy to take apart to add the mantle onto the structure. Overall a performance device at half the cost of a similar Primus Lantern. I have used a Primus for many years, and find this lantern as good as the Primus. It's an excellent value and a good performer.

runs HOT
Gives off good light, seems sturdy enough, but it gets hot. Super hot. 5 minutes of running it at neer full open the whole thing was glowing red with flames 2 inches out the top. Even the screw on base was on the verge of being too hot to touch
