Use alkaline batteries or the display won't work
Updated 09/22/18:After disassemble it and checked the connections, i figured out what was wrong with the unit: nothing. I was using rechargeable batteries and they provided 1.3v, and that wasn't enough to properly drive the lcd display. After using alkaline batteries the remote's display worked perfectly.Original post:The display in this remote is its most important piece, since its the only way to setup the soundbar, but my unit was not displaying anything in the display. The IR was working, but it doesn't show up anything. I figure out that the display is not properly soldered/attached to the mainboard, and if you press it hard with your thumb, you can make it work in the pressed area while you hold it. I managed to navigate the menu this way, but obviously it is defective. And based on other reviews, this is a common flaw from this provider.

Good replacement if you don't care about LED screen working
I bought this product to replace the original remote that came with my Vizio 5.1 wireless soundbar surround sound system because that original remotes lcd/LED screen had become unreadable. However within 90 days of owning this "new" remote the exact same problem occured. The remote itself still functions you just can't see what input the soundbar is currently set to receive which is the exact problem I bought this to solve. I contacted the seller of this item and was told there was no warranty and that I should try new batteries. Well I have, both alkaline and Ni/Cd and li-ion rechargable batteries and the problem persists. So I guess buy this if you need a remote replacement just don't expect the screen to last very long. So I am giving this two stars. The pictures show two angles where I have just pressed the source button and you should be able to discern something in the pictures if the screen worked.

Stay away if you're hoping to get a display screen that works
I had read all the feedback for this remote, and I was aware that about one in five reviewers gave it one star for not functioning properly. I needed a new remote because the display on my XRS500 remote stopped working and I couldn't see to adjust the levels in order to use a turntable I recently purchased. I carried out all the troubleshooting steps recommended on Vizio's website. Nothing worked. Seems a glaring flaw of any piece of tech that its functionality should be so limited by something akin to a light bulb burning out. There is just no way to get the levels right without the ability to see the screen. That fault is on Vizio, not the seller of this product, Beyution Factory. However, I'm still giving the one star to this seller because they shipped a product whose functionality easily could have been verified before shipping. Right out of the box, I put batteries into this remote, and the screen didn't work at all. This is the first time I've had to return anything on Amazon. Stay away from this one.

Try replacing your batteries a few times before you buy
I bought a replacement bc my last remote screen didn’t work—I tried replacing the batteries on my last remote and no joy . So, I bought this new one and put the fresh batteries from the old remote into the new one. Still didn’t work!I read a review about fresh batteries helping so I went back to my battery package, dug deep in the pack, replaced the batteries, and it worked! But then I thought hey wait a minute! What if I put those batteries in the old remote... I did and that remote worked too..... damnit.... I guess maybe I put used batteries pack in my battery pack (seems pretty unlikely to me) or I got some faulty batteries in my 20batteries battery pack (who knows). So now I have two functioning remotes. I left 4 stars bc this is just annoying. I wish the damned remote would just die completely if it couldn’t work 100%. This half functioning with the buttons working but the screen not working is just useless.Ultimately, works as designed, but design kinda sucks.

REPLACE THE BATTERIES!
I’ve had this remote for over a year, and have had a similar experience to everyone else: buttons/functions work perfectly, but the screen was dead.Just today I replaced the Vizio batteries it came with and put in new ones (Procell) and the SCREEN WORKS. Wish I could explain why. But if you get this remote, try putting fresh batteries in and see if the screen works.DON’T use the Vizio batteries that come with it.
