Works Great But….
….there are things you need to do to to get the bang for your buck. Thankfully I read reviews otherwise I would have returned this thinking it didn’t work. So here goes:1) The iXpand Drive app is being retired 4/25 and will be replaced by SanDisk’s MemoryZone app. You’ll need to download both first.2) Use a lightening device to update the drive otherwise the drive won’t recognize your USB-C iPhone/tablet device3) Open the app, plug in the drive and magic happens. Follow the set-up prompts.4) Do not let your phone/tablet sleep or the data transfer will stop5) Use the eject feature when using the Memory ZoneOnce I figured out all of the above, using the drive itself is easy peasy. You can rename, delete, and organize your photos. Duplicates are no problem as you can opt keep or override them. Toggling between your device and the drive helps ensure you keep what you want on your phone. Open the app and plug the drive into your device and it will automatically backup new pictures. Once your pictures are on the drive, delete the pictures you don’t want on your phone to free up space. Don’t wait for the 30 day grace period for them to delete. Then check the Cloud to see how much storage you have on your device. Oops! Took a pic off your phone that you need? You can transfer it from the drive back onto your phone.Note: the drive will store music and videos but I don’t see a claim that it will store notes, files or folders.Personally, I use it to backup for my pictures and free up Cloud storage. It’s a small but mighty flash drive with a sleek, metal design. And I’m satisfied.

Great product, life saver
I have a few of these usbs for my phone, I’ve been using these for years. I have a ziplock bag for storing these. I have family pictures and these store and transfer well. I have never lost any of my media using these usbs, they’re definitely worth buying and using. The design makes it so easy to transfer the media onto the usb. The application is easy to follow and understand, it pretty much does the work for you. I’ve had several iPhones and it’s worked well over the years with any model. It’s perfectly compatible and it’s quick to transfer. I always recommend using this product for storing media.

Great backup of photos instead of spending on icloud!
This is the second ixpand drive I purchased, but this time with the USB-C option so I can backup the photos and files from my Ipad Air. It’s great for backing up photos, etc. instead of paying for Apple Icloud backup!Technical tip: I bought the 256gb Luxe, with lightning and USB-C connections. At first, it was not working on my ipad after I deleted the SanDisk app and Re-installed. The work around is if you have an older iphone device that uses a lightning port, connect that to your iphone/ipad and let the firmware update. After that, I inserted to my Ipad Air and then it was automatically seen my the ixpand app.

Great for pictures & videos. Not a image back up storage medium
This works great for transferring or porting pictures & videos off an iPhone as long as you're not wanting to do all the pictures in one go. Large amounts of gigs transferring at once will take an inordinate amount of time. What I likeThe device is made of metal Not Plastic. Very Sturdy. Build quality is a 10+ but you are paying for it too.once the app is downloaded onto the phone transferring photos and videos onto the device is a snap.Minor annoyancesIt was unclear at the time of purchase if there was an app involved to access the device from the phone.transfer rate is a bit pokey for my liking. 63gb of videos and pictures took about 6 hours on an iPhone XR. It would be nice if there was an estimated time of when the transfer would complete.Major annoyancesIf the phone goes to the lock screen or the screen goes blank; the transfer stops dead in its tracks. It would be nice to know that before discovering that the hard way many times over.transferring all the pictures at once proved not to work that well. the transfer would either stop or continue and not transferring all of the files and DIDNT IDENTIFY WHICH FILES DIDN'T TRANSFER. MAJOR ANNOYANCE. No where was there any warning that if the phone goes dark, the transfer will quit.what I didn't likeThis device is not storage media to do an image back up of your phone. IT ONLY BACKS UP PICTURES AND VIDEOS. it will not back up emails, text messages, apps or settings. I'm not going to ding the rating because of this. Mainly because I may have been my fault for not reading the description or doing any homework on the devices' functionality. This device is just for iPhones & USB type C / thunderbolt. Other (way) cheaper alternatives that I've purchased in the past had an adapters to convert the native USB type C to USB type A and also had an adapter to convert the iPhone to Micro USB a for Android phones. So if your computer isn't a Mac or doesn't have a USB type C port, this isn't the tool for you!The price tag is a bit high for the limited type of device it works with.Transfer rates for a USB-C / thunderbolt device is slower than it should be; meaning it takes much longer than it should to transfer onto a computer. I use my phone for my youtube channel and copy the videos onto my video editing computer which is extremely quick using this device, is slower than just transferring directly from the phone via a USB cable (the charging cable).BUT if you're on vacation and iCloud is full - this is a very handy device to have around to free up storage on your phone!
