Backbeat Books The SG Guitar 50 Years of Gibson's Stylish Solid Guitar

A good effort but really needs to include an SG expert
I agree with Robert Mitchnick on this publication. So just adding my further thoughts and a 60's person. The author has included some nice SG stories from rock stars and guitar techs which is really good.As he produces lots of these type of books I presume he is not an SG expert as he has just used the early catalogs specs and pictures with perhaps the great Gibson archive . There is no mention of how these guitars feel/sound, ie the necks of 61/63 are different to 64/65 and then 66/68 which is really important.Like Robert there should be more from that period before Gibson lost the plot in the early 70's. As a follow up the latest 2021 range of (60's) SGs from Gibson is truly back on form and a good price, so buy them while you can.

Great book by a well known writer of all things guitar related.
Great book if you're an owner of a Gibson SG.
