Learn to Knit: 25 Quick and Easy Knitting Projects to Get You Started
S**G
You'll actually stick with your new hobby! (But give those hats some melanated models w/4C hair)
I treated myself to a kids knitting kit (Curiosity Kids scarf) and had a fun first time experience that taught me nothing about reading patterns. So I struggled with what to do for my second project even though my ADHD enthusiasm had me wanting to buy up every supply for my new hobby. I debated getting this book- how interesting could beginner projects be and surely I could just check it out of the library? - but am so glad I did. Just looking over the first few pages taught me more than my intro kit or any YouTube videos had so far and the projects were so enticing- it definitely got my dopamine flowing! My favorite part is the small "skills needed" box at the start of each project- what a smart way of letting the novice knitter assess the right project for their current level! My only critique is regarding the photos- not all of the wearable projects are shown being worn- I don't want to see a capelet or hat just laying flat, I want to see it on. And the models are very homogenous- pale, thin, with wispy fine hair. How beautiful it would be to see diverse models- especially seeing the hats worn with different hair textures! This book helped me become a knitter instead of someone with a bunch of knitting supplies gathering dust. The book itself is a slim softcover, easily stashed with your supplies. I am so glad I bought rather than borrowed it. Enjoy!
