After owning several Estwing hammers, I have spoiled myself with their quality. This is an expensive tool and it shows in its build quality. I needed one of these hammers for demolition of a wall, whilst a cheaper hammer would have done the job, I like to spend extra on tools that I know will last. The hammer is well-balanced and is made of a single piece of metal, rather than the composite models which have a plastic/wooden handle attached to the head. This gives you greater piece of mind when using in that a 3lbs piece of metal is going to go where it's told and not fly off in some random direction!The only negative I have is that some of the 'finish' on the tool had been chipped, probably during storage. Not a big concern as the tool won't look new for very long after its first use! If you are giving this tool as a gift, bear that in mind.
