Lake BellHarley Quinn: The Complete First and Second Seasons [Blu-ray]

Wonderful
This is a new, very adult, animated series centered around the character of Harley Quinn, voiced by Kaley Cuoco in her first post-Big Bang Theory role. The basic storyline of season one is that Harley is sick of being used by Joker (voiced wonderfully by Alan Tudyk), breaks up with him, and then tries to get into the Legion of Doom. She has to put together her own crew which includes Poison Ivy (voiced by Lake Bell) who insists she is not a member of the crew, Dr. Psycho (voiced by Tony Hale from Arrested Development), Clayface (voiced by Tudyk), and King Shark (voiced by Ron Funches). The end of the first season is basically a showdown with Joker that sets up a version of the no-man's land storyline where the various villains take over portions of Gotham, and by the end of the second season includes Darkseid and the parademons. As I said above, the show is very adult. While the original DC animated series showrunners are involved in this show, it is not family-friendly. They drop f-bombs left and right, and there is a ton of animated violence (which is pretty over the top) and sexually suggestive material. There is really only one word that is bleeped, said by Dr. Psycho, but done for comedic effect, not because they had to bleep it. The show has a strong supporting cast including Diedrich Bader as Batman, Giancarlo Esposito as Lex Luthor, Michael Ironside as Darkseid, Wayne Knight as Penguin, Christopher Meloni as Commissioner Gordon, Alfred Molina as Mr. Freeze, Jim Rash as The RIddler, Jason Alexander as Sy Borgman, and J. B. Smoove as Frank the Plant. For those who get the Blu-Ray set, there are, unfortunately, no extras. Just the twenty-six episodes spread across three discs. There are English captions that you can play if needed, but there are no deleted scenes, commentary tracks, or making-of features. So, it is a pretty basic MOD set. While I cannot say that this will appeal to everyone, if you are a fan of the character, a fan of the other animated series (like the Animated Batman and Superman series from the 1990s, or the animated Justice League series), and are not easily offended, then this is definitely worth checking out. Cuoco's take on Harley is not a carbon copy of how Arleen Sorkin voiced the character but Tudyk channels Mark Hamill's Joker so much it is hard to tell sometimes that it is not Mark Hamill doing the character. It is a very well-done series, the actors seem to have a great time playing their characters, and it is definitely worth checking out.

Excellent Show
A really great change of pace for comic book shows. The humor is clever, and the character development really drives the show. I was not a fan of Harley Quinn before this, I am now.

Brilliant! Just Brilliant! Harley Quinn is very fun & entertaining!
First of all: This is NOT a show for kids! It has all the adult themed content unfit for children. Ultra violence, profanity, sexual themes (no nudity), crazy jokes & all around mayhem. And yet, Harley Quinn pulls off mature storytelling with contextual scenarios such as: leaving friends behind, confronting an abusive lover & facing your inner demons. It manages to portray not just the super hero/villain, but also the person behind the persona. You see Bane trying to control his anger.Clayface aspiring to acting in theatre.Commissioner Gordon struggling with his personal life.Poison Ivy wanting to like people.Harley Quinn coping with her mental illness. There is a very real human element weaved into the stories of these beloved characters.Don't worry, your epic fight scenes & WTF humor are in every episode! I had a blast, watching the crew tear up Gotham City with jokes around every corner. You gotta hear the hilarious banter & sh*t talking, great stuff!Overall, I got my money's worth in laughter from this awesome show! 10/10I just finished all the episodes before writing this review, gonna binge watch it again! Best DC Animated Since Return of Joker!
This show is a blast! It is by far the best DC animated "anything" since Return of the Joker, and that was 21 Years Ago!! I know Tara Strong is normally the "go to" when aninimators want the best, but Kaley knocks this one out of the park, she is to Harley as Hamill is to Joker, you would not want to settle for anyone less after this performance. Her relationship/friendship with Ivy is a freaking blast and produces so many laugh at loud moments, and this is NOT for Kids, it is a violent / cursing / bloody kill anything that moves animation, and it is GREAT!!!The ONLY thing I can nitpick is the 3 disc set, as it blends Season 1 & Season 2 (transition) onto the 2nd disc, I'm sure this is done for cost measure, and in the end it all blends into one story, so it really is nitpicking! In this day and age to get something so over the top, so fun, and ON Blu-Ray - YES Please!!! Major props to Kaley and everyone involved, you actually got me to care about DC again!!

Awesome Show for Adults
The media could not be loaded. Kaley Cuoco has definitely earned and made the role of Harley Quinn her own. I definitely love the first two seasons of this series because it shows Harley evolve into a leader and finally beginning to move away from under Joker’s shadow. In her own way, Harley begins to learn how to love those she truly cares about. Definitely a great purchase for Batman fans. However, this is more of a Harley show than Batman. Animation and HD are incredible. I also love the look of a strong and self-confident Harley Quinn.

This is an HBO show- You're not going to want to put this down
The Harley Quinn HBO series was polarizing to say the least- a great many people love it, while some think that it's the worst thing in the world for one reason or another. It was surprising though just how many people were complaining about the plot 'not going fast enough'- THERE IS A LOT OF MATERIAL TO COVER! And the art, the voice actors, the humor, all of it adds up to a phenomenal show that is absolutely worth your time.

the best seasons
I would venture to say that the series, at the time of writing, on its fourth season, is wearing out its welcome. The third season was going in some slightly disquieting territory but aced the landing. These first two seasons when the concept is fresh and subversive, are the standouts.
