Works for someone who can’t tolerate Cavilon READ UPDATE!
*UPDATE*Earlier this week I looked more carefully at the ingredient list for this product. One is problematic enough for me to opt to use another brand.Smith & Nephew Prep spray contains Diazolidinyl Urea. And, Diazolidinyl Urea acts as a formaldehyde releaser. This makes me so sad! Finally I’d found a method to be able to use tape, which truly was a game changer for me, but I cannot justify the health risk. This led me to another search for something that could work for me. What I had not tried before were any resin based skin barrier/prep products. I didn’t even know this was an option. I came across Skin-Tac. Which is resin based. Well, I had some of that stowed away in a drawer. It was left over from my very beloved dog who wore a glucose monitor due to diabetes. When I lost him a couple of years ago, I held onto the Skin-Tac mainly for sentimental reasons. I am now using Skin-Tac with no irritation so far, although its not been an entire week yet.ORIGINAL REVIEWI’ve had a g-tube for several years. Hyper granulation tissue has always been a problem for me. Although medical literature confirms that the mechanism behind this happening is not fully understood, it is agreed that movement and friction, if not the primary cause, do make it worse.I am also allergic to tape. Any tape. That makes it difficult to keep the tube from moving. However, I’ve found I tolerate tape when I apply the spray first.Over the years, clinicians suggest many ideas, none of which really work. For some years I had a button style g-tube, and that helped, not completely, but I could keep the granulation under control. When I had to switch back to the long tube style, the granulation came back with a vengeance. It seems that on the top of the list of suggestions for those with tape allergies are Cavillon barrier products. Well, they inflame my skin as much as tape does.In my quest to get things back under control, I searched online in Google Scholar, as well as regular Google. One of the first articles I came across lauded how much better Cavillon protected than it’s competitors, including Smith & Nephew. It showed all kinds of controlled tests demonstrating how much longer the film lasted. And that may be true, but it didn’t help me.FINALLY I read the release of a scholarly study that gave examples of actual cases with photographs of patients and their inflamed skin from the use of the Cavillon. The article concluded that the top offender of all the barrier products used in the study was Cavillon.I’m not anti Cavillon, it’s fine for many (obviously). But it never worked for me. It certainly forms a film, it’s just that the ingredients are ones that cause a reaction.I took a chance on Smith & Nephew. The ingredient list is very short. It works! I can apply tape to my abdomen and not blister.II can tolerate tape, thanks to the Smith & Nephew No Sting Prep Spray.

Wish they made a bigger bottle.
Wish they made a bigger bottle. This stuff goes fast when you have to change a wound vac everyday because it is leaking air, and the wound is big. But it does work ok

Didn’t Work
Bought to use with the Dexcom as the adhesive causes irritation. The website suggested this is one of the several solutions. This did not work for me and caused even more irritation. It was so itchy I took my monitor off which is rather expensive but the itching was unbearable and the Dexcom adhesive was peeling up because of this product.

Disappointed
You have to use A LOT!! It's a small bottle that does go far. I used it with kenisio tape for sensitive skin,as recommended by the PT.
