Great basic commuter/laptop backpack for a short, no-frills female
Probably the best basic laptop/city commuter backpack I've ever owned. I've consistently used this daily on the train for my 1+ commute for 8 months since I bought it.Pros:*Fit: I'm a pretty short, small-bodied female, so I loved that the straps didn't feel huge or heavy. The size of the pack is just right and not overwhelming large.*Material: Love the zippers. No issues getting caught in anything. Most compartments have two zippers. Also dig the G-1000 fabric a lot. I haven't had any isuses with the handle as other reviews have mentioned. It's really comfortable to hold!*Pockets: Solid amount of pockets to hold your pens, small wallets, any kind of cards, tissue papers, hand sanitizers and etc. I also like the mesh pocket on the first front compartment. I wouldn't advise putting too many things in that mesh pocket because it'll slump down a bit when you open that.*Main Compartment: You can really stuff a lot of things in this! If you don't have that many things, it'll compress pretty well too. The laptop pocket has some padding that isn't super hard against your back. Fit my 13" Macbook Pro well.*Back support: The back has some slight cardboard-y support. Although it's not the best, it's better than most cheaper ones on the market. There's some mesh padding on the straps.*Cleaning: It's super easy to clean and I've thrown it in the wash a few times already. It also dries rather quickly. I had a swarm of ants crawl onto my backpack one time and a quick rinse and they were all gone. The pack dried in a couple hours indoors with some sun.*Decorating: I love the blank, minimalist front. It's great if you're into pins or patches. You can get really creative on the front of the pack.*Shades compartment: I live in an area with lots of sun so the sunglasses pocket on top is super useful. Soft fabric inside as well.Cons: (no deal breakers!)*Color: Ahhh why did I buy navy blue?! Definitely go for the bright colors if you're getting this. White fuzz and hairs might be visible against darker colors.*Water bottle pockets: There are two which I actually like but they're not expandable. Not a huge issue in general but if your backpack is pretty stuffed, you won't be able to put anything in those side pockets.*No ventilation: If you're a sweaty person, I would avoid this backpack as the material is pretty dense. I took this backpack on a hike and came back soaked.*Weight: It can get heavy if you fill it up to the brim. The fabric isn't the lightest around. As you can tell, I love this backpack! I don't have any major issues and would highly recommend it to any other petite city commuter.

Small enough to be convenient, large enough to hold everything I need
I'm a grad student, so it's important to have a backpack that can hold a lot but still be easily portable. This backpack is exactly that. It easily holds a 15" MBP and several textbooks and notebooks, with room for a jacket and my lunch. I like the mesh pocket in the smaller section for keeping small and important things within quick reach (it's perfect for keys!) I was a little worried about the water bottle pockets on the side, but they hold a 32oz Nalgene bottle, which is plenty big enough. With all of this stuff, it's still light and easy to carry around. I haven't tried wearing it on a bike, but I can't imagine it would be too bad. It seems durable and of good quality, and is stylish. The only thing I would change is adding some sort of airflow to the back.

Probably the single greatest light-load backpack for city daytrips I've found or owned
Probably the single greatest light-load backpack for city daytrips I've found or owned. It's made very sturdy and tough (material = legit) and has a TON of handy pockets all throughout for keeping me organized. I bought it after going to Iceland with a small 18L Patagonia pack which had 2 pockets/compartments, and upgraded to the Raven 20 before we my wife and I traveled to Copenhagen and explored the city for a week.Having said that, I own a few other types of bags I really like for different usages - and I would NOT recommend using the Raven 20 for hikes or for traveling in really warm climates for a few reasons -First, its back has no ventilation. If you are in a hot climate, you will sweat. It will not breathe. Since it's water-resistant canvas, your sweat will sit on outside of bag and soak into your clothes. So, if you're visiting Central America or Asia and want to walk around all day, choose something lighter and more breathable.Second, the Raven 20 doesn't have a waist belt or sternum strap, so you will not be able to secure a load on a hike.Third, it's pockets and compartments don't really work for lots of water, as you'd need when hiking. So don't get me wrong - this bag is amazing, but know what you're getting it for.

I beat the crapout of this backpack
I've had this backpack for approximately 9 months and it's been my daily workhorse bag during work in construction fields and at the office. It's got good construction, weight, and compartmentalization that lets you bring what you need on a day-to-day basis whether it be a laptop/tablet, gym clothes, papers, water, medicine, or all of the above. One thing to note, however, is that the smaller pockets will enlarge internally depending on what you put in them. This is to have a lower overall profile, but be aware that putting clunky items will give you a clunky pocket.Another note: This backpack is tough, but not entirely water resistant. I would recommend fjallraven's wax to make this a better water resistant backpack. Wish it would come with the backpack, but it's understandable that they didn't include it to reduce cost for those living in a drier area.Overall, great backpack. Does exactly what I need to do, it looks great, and it's very low profile and I'll be looking forward to more fjallraven products.
