CEDARWOOD OIL --- Uses of Old Man Cedrus
Cedarwood is one of my favorite essential oils to use, not only in the diffuser, but also on my body. Cedarwood oil is antiseptic, so it helps to fight infections. Its also antispasmodic, so if you have spastic muscles, or maybe restless leg syndrome, it can help with that condition. Also worth noting are its anti inflammatory effects, so for arthritis, or even inflamed skin, just rub some Cedarwood oil on yourself. There's even been talk of using Cedarwood oil for bladder cancer. I wouldn't use it instead of BCG, but rubbing some over the bladder, could help stop that spastic bladder problem people go thru with that type of cancer experience. Best of all, try using Cedarwood oil as a natural insect repellant. Get a spritzer bottle, add in clean water, and several drops of Cedarwood oil, and spray it over your clothing. (I tend to use it around my socks. It works really well with Patchouli oil, which also repels insects.)I'm not that impressed with the smell of NOW's Cedarwood oil. I've used aromatherapy for over 25 years, becoming very familiar with the basic scents during that time. I've used several bottles of Cedarwood oil, from several different companies. Usually Cedarwood oil has a very sweet smell, woody, almost slightly balsamic. NOW's essential oil of Cedarwood smells like there's something else going on in this. Maybe they just use the needles of the Cedarwood tree, and not the wood. Or maybe its the way this was distilled. I'm smelling more juniper needles, and less of that sweet wood smell. Plus another scent, that has a chemical note to it. Of course good quality Cedarwood oil will cost you a lot more than NOW's oil. If you factor in the shipping price (even if it's a PRIME item, you're still paying a shipping price silently tagged onto the cost of the product.) Therefor this is VERY inexpensive oil. The last bottle of CEDARWOOD I used (Simply Earth), smelled better than this. For a diffuser, I'm sure this brand is fine. However, if you want to use Cedarwood medically on your skin, you might want to consider buying a brand with better processing, or using a better grade of cedar.. One of the big problems since this whole DIFFUSER craze took off, is that there's a ton of essential oils on the market now. Most are fine, but some really smell bad. If you're paying less for a 4 ounce bottle of Lavender or Cedarwood oil, than almost all the 1 ounce bottles charge for the same oil, I might suspect you're going to get what you pay for. I would rate this Cedarwood oil somewhere between OK and GOOD. THREE AND A HALF STARS. I'm not disappointed in the oil, but I'm not absolutely thrilled by it either.

Lid was not tight lost at least half the bottle.
Lid was not tight on the bottle and about half the bottle was soaked into the box and all over the plastic it was wrapped in. What a mess.Oil itself was good. Not the packaging.I thought I reported it, but never heard from the vendor.

Not the good smelling pure cedar wood from NOW that I got before.
I ordered atlas cedar from NOW, a good company I have used before with complete satisfaction. But to my error my last batch that I wished to replace was NOW's Cedarwood, and an entirely different odor. This atlas cedar to me is bitter, different and unpleasant. Unfortunately these items cannot be returned. I gave it 2 stars because someone might like it and it is probably pure and what it is purported to be.
