Comes charged at 75%. Charged it up to 100%. Good to go. What's really amazing is that the Canon HG21 camcorder still works. It's about 16 years old. Impressed.

I put the new battery in my Vixia HF100 video camera to charge it. It charged like the OEM battery, getting a blinking red light and turning solid red after charging was complete. I didn't time it, but I believe it was about 3-4 hours to full charge. Then I did a comparison of the OEM versus the new battery. I put the old (15 years) fully charged OEM battery in the video camera and the display read 85 minutes. I believe this to be fairly accurate at recording at standard definition. The new battery showed 171 minutes recording time, which is double the original battery that I had (although, I don't know what it would have shown when it was new). I believe if you record at the highest resolution, your recording time will be much less than is initially shown on the screen. The battery is extended run time, so it sticks out of the back of the camera more (the original one is flush), but I don't see it as much of a problem.

Nice and of great qualit

This battery was chosen as an alternative to the brand name batteries offered by the camera's manufacturer. The pricing of those especially as more time goes by can be outrageous. This battery was found during a search for alternatives. The battery it larger than the larger battery from the brand name but also provides more time. This battery charged up and had life as advertised. This camera has gotten a little less used overtime but when it does, the battery is charged and it still holds ample charge. Any battery can become less effective over time just sitting up. This battery is periodically charged even in non-use to hopefully help keep it active. When a new battery replacement is needed will still look this model/version as a prime candidate to replace.

My wife was trying to talk me out of getting a new battery for our old Cannon HD recorder. But you can buy a camera as sturdy as my Cannon HD today. And my camera has good optics with an actual large zoom lens (not digital) built inside. Although this battery sticks out a bit further than the original, it works great and has more charging time than the original ever did. For what I use it for like recording sports games with zoom it has brought my old Cannon back to life.

i purchased this for a canon vixia hf 200. i use my video camera rarely. after 6 months and ~2-3 uses, the batter would no longer hold a charge. it was out of warranty and not able to be returned through amazon. i wrote the company (stk) asking them to replace the battery. they told me to recycle the old battery and sent me two new batteries, a wall charger, and a car charger: FREE!!! now that's the type of customer service that you just dont see anymore!i cannot recommend this product nor this company enough. i will recommend them to all of my colleagues/friends and will look to them for any needs in the future.

I charged this battery overnight before first using it.In the morning it reported something like 120 minutes of battery life, way less than the original Canon, but whatever...it's a cheap Chinese imitation.I used it for the day at SeaWorld and noticed that it was discharging a lot more than the amount I had the camera on and recording.It got down to 20 minute left. I didn't want to discharge it all the way, since I've heard that this damages Li-Ion batteries, so I stopped using it for the day.That night, I charged it overnight at the hotel. The next morning, the red light was still blinking indicating it was charging and it reported only 20 minutes left.Last night when we got home, I charged it again, overnight. Same result, red light still blinking in the morning, 20 minutes of battery left.I am returning it now. It's pretty frustrating. I bought the Canon BP-819 in Dec. 2010 for $79 when I bought the camcorder. The Canon battery was out of stock last week when I was looking to buy a new one. I just noticed it's in stock, but now for $99. I have not had the camera for 4 years yet and it's hard to find a quality battery to replace the old one.

Was pleasantly surprised that this reasonably priced battery did replicate the "intelligent" capabilities of the original, high-priced Canon battery. After an initial, in camera full charge, it showed 150 minutes remaining on my Canon HF S20. I then performed a run down test by leaving the camera on record in a static position. After 2 hours and 25 minutes, the battery showed 10 minutes remaining. The next day I used it for several hours of on and off recording. Worked fine. A mental adjustment for me is that when the battery indicator shows "half" full there are now about 72 minutes remaining rather than the 30 minutes I was used to.UPDATE: After using this battery for a while in my HF S20, I bought another for use in my HF S200. Works just as well as the first. Very pleased with these reasonably priced replacement batteries. Heck I may buy another.UPDATE 2-3-2014: Purchased another one of these batteries to have all three of my Canon cameras at the same excellent battery time available. Can't say a bad thing about these batteries. Even in the recent cold weather, I've had no issues. And I video a LOT outside after letting the cameras sit a while in the cold.
