I live in Arizona. If you know what yellow nutsedge is then you know you hate it and it will overtake a lawn before your eyes.I tried literally every product sold by big box stores and nothing worked. They did ok for clover of dandelions but not this.Then a landscape friend told me about this-absolutely the best.Use a surfactant in your sprayer to help it stick to the leaves and mix it right and the results are awesomeI continue to get pop up blades as the wind must just blow them in but a shot of this and they are brown and dying the next day.Worth the money.

Have used this for 3 years and never bought enough, so I finally decided to get the larger container. It is amazing how specific it is, leaving surrounding plants untouched, but thoroughly killing sedge. Like other reviewers have said, you need to give it at least 10 days to START to act. I always wonder if I mixed it properly because the sedge looks healthy for that long...then it turns yellow and withers.So, be patient. And make sure to use surfactant. Hi Yield spreader sticker is a bit pricey but works well. Halosulfuron is nonpolar and has to be delivered as a suspension. Plus, sedge has waxy leaves that will otherwise shed water, so the surfactant helps coat them. I’ve tried just plain dish soap and it seems to work fine, too.In a perfect world there would be something like this for crabgrass.

This product really works to eliminate the dreaded NUTSEDGE, but it does traumatize the remainder of your lawn for quite awhile. My lawn became infested with the NUTSEDGE and after trying a more gentle option that failed I opted for this nuclear option. Be sure to gown up entirely and after initial application be patient; results start to show up about three days later then even more kill-off of the sedge within the next 5-10 days. If the harmful environmental effects concern you (or pets) re-sod or put in artificial turf.

I can't recall a summer where nutsedge was so invasive in my neighborhood, maybe because we've had such a hot/dry one? Anyway, I used this along with the Non-Ionic Southern Ag Surfactant for Herbicides and worked really well.I'd say the directions lack a bit on how much to use...the directions reference an amount and include a scooper but the scoop indicates 125cc but the directions give the amount in a different format and I wasn't able convert accordingly so I guessed at 1 scoop for my 1.5 gallon sprayer. Must have worked because I didn't kill anything but the nutsedge. Takes about 7 days (maybe even longer) before you'll see the nutsedge start to turn from its vibrant lime/green to a yellow color (included a before and some after where you can see it turned yellow).I've read it can take several years to eradicate but I think I got rid of 95%+ after one application. I have .52 acres and had so much nutsedge that I went through about 7.5 gallons total (again I've got a 1.5 gallon sprayer). I have plenty of SEDGEHAMMER leftover for next year if (and most undoubtedly will) nutsedge returns. Be mindful you're apparently only supposed to apply up to 4x per year and no sooner than 6 weeks between applications. Now, if only my weed control company could have killed the crabgrass I'd have been pretty happy with how my yard looks.Long story short, this stuff works!

Glad I listened to the reviews. Never had nut sedge this bad. The only thing that controlled it and killed that weed. I made sure I applied early in the morning under 90 degrees before this crazy Texas heat started for the day. No damage to lawn.

Very expensive

Very small tedious mixture ratio. Product worked as intended.No complaints other than the cost. It’s less than comparable items on the market. Good product for the $

I live in the central part of South Carolina if that helps. For years I've spent hours on the fool's errand of plucking nutsedge out of my lawn and flower beds, just to see it return within days. Also sprayed with Roundup if it wasn't close to any plants I wanted to keep. I stumbled upon Sedgehammer and bought a 1-gal packet to try it out. Holy smokes, it's a wonder drug. I have sprayed it to kill nutsedge in my zoysia, mondograss, and day lilies (all three receiving a good dose since nutsedge was mixed in with them pretty good). Zero effect on my turf/plants, and nutsedge is yellow/dying within about 6-8 days (it's slow but that's OK-- you have to be patient). Seeing that the war might go on for a while until it's completely eradicated, I bought this larger size after reading that it has a 3-year shelf life and it's way cheaper "per gallon" than the packets. If you have a nutsedge problem, I can't imagine there's anything better to kill it without damaging your desired plants.
