iCarsoft POR V3.0 for Porsche/Cayenne Diagnostic Tool with auto VIN/Quick Test

I wanted a device to check codes on a Porsche. Such devices are hard to find. This was all I wanted and more. I plugged it in and turned the key to on [not starting the car]. A selection panel popped up with arrow keys to navigate and an enter key to select. I ran a full diagnoses and while I didn't time it it was really quick. The units with faults popped up and I was able to select, review and reset as required. A possible weakness is it does show things that don't exist, like sat radio, as a fault. I don't know if that can be turned off.The device did not recognize my car so I had to enter the ViN. It immediately identified the car from the VIN. Apparently some cars get recognized automatically, but having to enter the VIN was not a big deal.The only weakness for me is it is Windows based [I use Mac] and you have to download a program to a Windows computer if you want to update the software [I don't need to do that] or print a report. However, I'm not sure why I would ever need to print a report so I can live with it.

It did not work out of the box, then upgraded the software to V23.10 and V33.50 from their website and it worked. Very easy to upgrade. Just downloaded the iCarsoft client kit from the website, plugged in device using the supplied USB cable, told the software which drive the device is in and upgraded in about 3min.

I bought this scanner for the primary use of resetting service intervals on multiple cars. I tested it on 5 different Porsches and here are my findings:2017 Porsche Macan S- Worked perfect, reset all service intervals immediately.2004 Porsche Cayenne - Did exactly what it was supposed to, performed service reset and more in depth testing.2003 Porsche 996 Carrera - Basically useless, wont perform any service interval resets2007 Porsche 997 Carrera S - Same case, will not perform any service resets but will perform acuation tests etc.2011 Porsche 997 GTS - Same result as the 2007 Carrera S.In essence, it does very complicated tasks well and wont perform the one basic task that anyone that owns it would attempt to do once a year - A bloody SERVICE RESET! Kind of absurd, thoroughly disappointed.

Definitely worth every single penny. Kids easy to use. You will learn. Readability is easy. Diagnostics are accurate. Connectivity easy. My husband is a mechanic and loves this thing. No more hassles of having to bring my car somewhere to reset my oil setting.

I found the unit easy to use but immediately noted when doing VIN identification that the software only supported 2018 and earlier Cayenne's and received an oil reset not supported message when attempting to do an oil reset on my 2021 Cayenne. I performed an iCarsoft software update, which was very easy to do, but found it was still the same version that came with the unit. The unit was able to perform diagnostics of many, if not all, of the Cayenne systems but since I purchased this to do oil and maintenance resets it doesn't meet my needs. As a future reference, I decided to also try this on my 2013 981 and found it did a good job of diagnostics and oil reset worked on it. I'm returning it but only because I need a single diagnostic tool that supports all my Porsche's.

This is fully functional for the average user to access simple diagnostics !

The maker makes many claims about this device's capabilities but fails to deliver on some claims. e.g. Auto VIN did not work for me. Impossible to see installed battery registration data despite BMS registration function apparently working. Tech support is strictly by e-mail to China. Expect long periods of silence, if you actually do receive a response. Company has a US address on K Street in Washington DC, of all places. Phone calls are never answered except by a Chinese voice mail message. Company offers a confusing array of products but it is impossible to determine which functions a particular product will definitively support or not support. UPDATE: After almost 5 weeks and 7 not useful and cryptic e-mails from Tech Support, my basic question is still unanswered. I gave up and returned the item.

Reset check engine light and service interval on a 92a cayenne. Great price very pleased.
