Better than the expensive ones!
The media could not be loaded. I initially bout a $350 dollar big name brand shearer from a local store that didnât even turn on, then replaced it with a $400 one that died after 2 minutes. I decided to try this because it was a lot more cost effective even if it didnât work. It worked perfectly! Itâs not overly noisy and the size and shape make it easy to hold and run. The base is sharp enough to get through the thick babydoll wool without hassle. This is our first time shearing our sheep and this tool make it go more smoothly that expected! I may buy a second one just to keep it on hand, but I donât need to and that is fantastic!

Serious cutting ability
This is a heavy product and has heavy duty cutting ability. Don't be careless. This shear can seriously injure a person or animal. Example the blades are swiping back and forth with power. If you get an ear or tendon in the cutting path it is getting cut. Use this product with caution and attention because it is going to cut whatever goes in the blade opening. It's similar to a hedge trimmer, the blades go back and forth with power. No guard on this one... It's the one the guy who has a flock of sheep uses. The back of my St Bernard's leg has a large tendon and careless use of this tool would cut it in half like a hedge trimmer cuts a half inch tree limb.

Great product great price
This did fairly well on my Great Pyrenees which had some pretty severe matting on his underside. A regular Pet-pro electric clipper by Whal couldn't do anything with it and failed to cut or immediately fouled. This clipper did struggle at times but not badly, probably from my inexperience using it. It would be nice if this came with a couple of different plastic guards to help maintain a uniform length but over all these shears are great. They did not overheat before I was able to fully complete the job. I did oil them prior to use. I would buy these trimmers again.

$2000 at emergency vet after using this product.
I have a long thick haired dog whose hair is nearly unmanageable. When looking for ways to manage his hair, I found your product under dog trimmer. I read the reviews and most are excellent, however, my disappointment is beyond words. I can not stress to you enough the importance of accurate advertising. âSafe for most long haired dogs, rabbits, etcâ no, not safe for any dog and I highly doubt a rabbit. In big BOLD letters it should state not safe for dogs at all. I was trimming my dog, he BARELY made a move and in less than a second his tail is gushing blood. Not a little blood, I mean perfuse, uncontrollable bleeding. Thank god I have some medical knowledge and did a turner kit that ended up saving Rustyâs life. I rushed him to an emergency vet a hour away to find that this thing cut the tip of my dogs tail off and took an artery with it. $2000+ for the surgery to remove part of his tail to stop the bleeding. Heâs an old boy and the surgery for his age is risky in itself. After reading the description and reviews, I bought what I thought was a safe option for my dog and he nearly died because of it. Please, âsafe for most long haired dogsâ should in no way be part of of this description. Regretful is the only way I can think to describe how I feel after purchasing these sheers. Please, save other pets and make it clear that these should not be used for dog.If youâre reading, please, no matter how big or long haired your dog is. Do not buy these.

These things are awesome.
As a professional sheep shearer with lots of high end expensive gear, I expected these to be junk and not last long. I mainly bought them for my 1-3 sheep stops and just hoped I'd pay for them before they gave out. Well they just keep working and are worth their weight in gold saving lots of time on a quick stop. Time to buy another set just to have on hand. For those reviews who say they don't work, my guess is you don't know how to set them up correctly. I have to teach people this all the time with electric shears that they say don't work.

Wish I bought this way sooner
It was time to do the spring clipping on all of my goats, but they were so fuzzy and muddy (see second picture of wooly mammoth/goat) and all had a very thick, fleecy undercoat that clogged my regular clippers after every few inches. After taking an hour to get through half of one mini goat, I looked up sheep sheers out of frustration and bought these.Wow what a difference! They glide through even the thickest of my goats fur, absolutely didnât slow down at all. What was taking me over an hour with horse clippers, takes about 2 mins per side with these. I was worried theyâd shave them naked but it actually left them longer than a 10 blade for shows does, which is good so that I can go back and clean up my lines. Itâs definitely heavy but itâs totally manageable. Mine came assembled and ready to go pretty much out of the box, with an extra set of blades. I did tighten the dial a half turn to be safe. Every other goat I stopped and used the provided brush and oil to clear out hair and lubricate. It went through 14 goats without getting hot or slowing down. I wish I ordered this two springs ago! Theyâre ready for the oncoming 80 degree weather now,

Be cautious
The blade is sharp and works great, first and foremost! I read a lot of previous reviews from pet owners who seemed to like it. Our dog has curly hair that matts easily, we havenât found a razor that works.. so I thought sheep sheers could do the trick. These just do not seem suitable for pets, they are incredibly noisy and are scary for you and your pet. I think itâs best to know more about how to maneuver the tool before getting it and consider that. These are NOT like regular razors and we cut our dog twice in the process, while being very hesistant. The product is fine and works, but I wouldnât recommend buying for your pets!
