I would say half tang. The blade is extended through the length of the knife but the handle is like a sleeve over it.

It will hold up to being thrown some,but it is not very balanced, handle weighs way too much to be an effective throwing weapon.This blade is meant for combat or tactical applications

Q: What is the difference between the ka-bar 1254, 1255, 5054, and 5055 tantos? they are all 5 1/4 in. but have slight different prices. recommendations?

Same knives, only the sheaths are different.

Q: Is this the real deal? Am I getting the short tanto with a glass filled nylon sheath.. or is it kydex??

KA-BAR stopped using glass filled nylon and Kydex years ago, they are all made of Molle compatible black plastic.
