My little old dog is very picky when it comes to anything meant to clean his teeth. He hates all of the fake meat-flavored bone alternatives and toothpastes, but he loves the mint flavored Dentastix. I wish I’d found them sooner! He does have to work at eating them since he’s had several teeth pulled over the years, but he actually chews them rather than trying to swallow them whole like the green treats by another brand.Size & chew:I compared nutrition labels before buying, and these Dentastix have the highest moisture content of all the green treats I could find, which makes them a little easier to bite into than others even though they appear larger. I think the X shape, while unwieldy, also helps since he’s not having to bite through a half inch of solid treat.Effectiveness:Nothing will really help my dog’s breath at this point, because the vet wasn’t able to pull a large tooth that’s rotting in back. I will say that these treats don’t have that nasty fake meat smell, just a mild minty scent, and I think that they help clean his remaining teeth since he actually chews them.Longevity:I was worried that these might get stale since I was buying such a large quantity, but there doesn’t seem to be any decline in quality over time from what I can detect of the scent and texture. I do my best to minimize exposure to air, light, and temperature changes to keep them fresh. I prefer to break each sheet into individual sticks before storing as many as I can in a ceramic jar with a rubber gasket for quick, easy access. (You can see my dog checking out his treat jar in the pic.) I also squeeze any extra air out of the bag with the remaining treats before closing the built-in zip seal and putting it in the pantry. Maybe I’m being overly cautious, but my dog only gets one a day, and he was just as enthusiastic to eat it on day 102 as he was on day 1. I call that a win!

Greenies, anyone?! That's the two words that get my dogs going crazy. I don't know what they put in these little treats but they make my dogs go wild and do tricks for me. I give them one at night as their treat and to "brush their teeth". It doesn't take my dogs a little bit to chew them down so I feel they really are getting a little cleaning while eating these. I like that they can't just swallow them whole. The treats smell really good too. More of a mint kind of smell. I think these are great for training your pup as they literally will do backflips to get their jaws on this treat. The value for the money is really good, as well.

Wonderful treat and definitely helps their teeth and breath. The amount received is really nice especially for the price. One hundred and eight is like 324 as I slice them into 3. My furbabies are small so too big for them. Absolutely a great value.

My dog always looks forward to getting her “treat” in the evening. I have noticed that this product has helped with her breathe and the plaque on her teeth.

I bought these once to give my two dogs something different to look forward to each day, and I think this is their favorite treat. I used to give them one each at night to keep them from howling, and it would keep them quiet until they finished. Several weeks ago, I started giving them one each as I was leaving for work in the morning, and after a week or so, I noticed they would get real excited once I started getting dressed in the morning. I like to think it's not because I'm leaving them, so I have to assume it's because they love getting their Dentastix. Actually, I know it is their love of the Dentastix because as soon as they heard me open the bag, they are at my feet, jumping over each other to be the first to get it. I have no idea if it is helping their teeth, but they love them so much, I have to buy them for them!
