Q: Is the bracket removable?

The bracket is screwed into the surface and the thermometer fits into that bracket. The bracket can be re-positioned easily without the thermometer attached.

Q: Does it come with a mounting bracket?

It does! This product comes with everything to use right away. :)

Q: If I want to inset this into a board, what would be the hole diameter that I'd need? I don't see any pictures of the back of it.

I just measured the diameter of mine, and it's 4 inches, not 4.25 inches. It's a bit hard to measure as the glass face is somewhat rounded. The rough depth is 1 inch.
