Surprisingly Effective with Garden Hose
I connected it to a garden hose to unclog the 40 foot long 4" dia. drain under my lawn, from the gutter down spout to the street. The device is short, and easily went round the 90 deg. bend at the street and into the drain pipe. It wanted to pull itself in, because of the rear facing jets, which made it easy to work it backwards and forwards a few feet at a time. It has one small forward jet to loosen the leaves and dirt. I used a relatively light plastic hose, not a heavy rubber one.I had tried using a hose without a nozzle, and then with a brass nozzle, and neither was effective. After watching videos with people using a Pressure Washer (which I do not have) attached to $40 pressure hose and fancy nozzles, I did not have high hopes for the Water Rocket. I was truly amazed at its effectiveness, and it is still in good condition after this one use.

Doesn't Work
This probably works best for pipes but it DOES NOT work in gutters like it claims. Once leaves get wet they get heavy and no longer can get blasted out of the gutter. So at the end of the day I had the same problem but now had to wait several days for the leaves to dry out and just use a leaf blower to blow them out.

Great tool, limited by house water pressure
This is a great little tool that is easy to attach to my garden hose. It was able to clear most of my underground downspouts and locate the drain caps that were grown over with grass. My underground downspouts are made of PVC so it was relatively easy to push the garden hose through with the tool attached. Unfortunately, you're limited by the water pressure from the house. I have one clogged drain that could not be penetrated. I think perhaps there's a t-joint with a bunch of spruce needles that is causing the bottleneck. Pricing wise, I thought this tool could have been a little bit cheaper, thus the 4-star rating (I would give a 4.5-star if I could).

Very useful, especially for long gutters
$16.99 is quite a bit of money for a little piece of plastic that is probably just a few Cents to produce, BUT because it works so well I’m still happy I bought it.My house is built directly on the property boundary, so I had to ask my neighbors for permission to work off their property when I wanted to clean the gutters on that side. They would let me, they are lovely people, I just didn’t want to bother them with this 2-3 time a year. The water rocket allows me to flush the entire gutter from end and this gutter is about 60 feet long. The nozzle creates enough propulsion so that the hose can be pushed the entire length to the other end. Then I pull it slowly back towards me in a rocking back-and-forth motion. It flushes leaves, pine needles, acorns and granules from the shingles with ease. Just go slowly so that the water current can carry the debris away.I’m using a second hose to feed water to the actual hose that I’m pushing through the gutter, and I installed an in-line valve between the two hoses. That way I can turn the water on/off and adjust the flow without leaving my position on the ladder or having another person operating the faucet down at ground level.Sometime you may want to reduce the flow because otherwise the Water Rocket might jump out of the gutter and depending on how that happens and how the dangling hose kinks, you might not be able to pull it back. Also, when you pull the nozzle back and it gets close to you, you want to reduce the flow otherwise you end up completely soaked.Last thing to mention is that it takes quite a bit of water to flush a very dirty gutter clean, especially a long one. So think and plan ahead for that water to go somewhere, otherwise you may step into a swamp when you finally get off your ladder.Overall I’m really happy with this tool and would definitely recommend it for gutter cleaning, especially for long ones because you don’t have to set up your ladder several times in different spots.

Not so good at cleaning gutters
Our gutters had 2" of muck in them with plants growing in the muck. It was like mud. Tried the Water Rocket on the end of a 5/8" hose and it was just not that effective. First off you are standing on a ladder and Water Rocket, when it pops out of the trough, can squirt a 20 foot stream of water from its back jets, which can hit you. Also to clean this kind of muck requires a good flow of water to break it up and carry it down the drain. The Water Rocket just doesn't not discharge that much water. We end up with a small funnel nozzle that blast the muck out or down the gutter. The heavy 5/8" hose we used laid flat in the gutter and we could work it though all the muck in the entire gutter. With a lighter hose we would not have been able to push it through the muck.Perhaps with a less challenging gutter the Water Rocket would be better choice.
