One of the finest headphones ever, but…
I’m listening to my Apple Music station as I write this. I can’t say enough good things to fit in this space. The “but” in the headline refers to the need of a good headphone amp/DAC to fully enjoy them if listening as I do, with an iPad. These are efficient enough without an amp and you might be tempted to not spend the money on one but that would be a big mistake. The DAC built into the iPad will bring you to about 95% but to bring you up that last bit these cans can provide requires an external amp. It will bypass the iPad and give you the clearest detail you have ever heard. I use the Monolith by Monoprice Liquid Gold Balanced Headphone Amplifier/DAC by Alex Cavelli. The phones come with a long balanced XLR cable. This combination is all you’ll ever need. The absence of noise and those annoying trebly overtones you hear with some phones at their limit doesn’t exist. Every detail of the music is crystal clear. You can listen to these open back headphones for hours on end with no fatigue. If you can afford these headphones and a good amp/DAC, you won’t be sorry!

Pioneer DJ HDJ X10 has better sound
Definitely this re not the best headphones for this price, pioneer x10 has better sound. I tested with DAP HiBy R6 lll, Tidal and Deezer with high definition and compared with Pioneer X10 and Philips Phidelio X2HR. I think that the price is due to de great quality of the materials, but you can get better sound or similar with less money. This headphones looks amazing!!! That’s true but are very expensive.

Great headphones!
Bought the Focal Clear MG headphones to use with my Chord Mono 2. Great pairing.

Very detailed!
Extremely detailed. More detailed than the Anandas. Excellent bass. Easy to drive, however, amplification highly recommended to get the most out of it.

These are great!
I have to say I also purchased this headphone after watching many videos on the idea they have to be good at $1,500 and how much better can a $3,000 Headphone be? Man ooo man the naysayers on this headphone are full of crap, these are addicting to listen to, every strum of a guitar, very chime, the ring of any and all instruments is ALL THERE! I also got a iFINEO IDSD to drive this Wonderfull headphone.I have also found lossless music on my Mac, and if you E.Q. these babes ,your into one of the best listening enjoyments, you can get for your investment. You also have to "break in " for a couple of hours of heavy base base music "under a blanket" and let them play for a day or two and you will be rewarded with a totally absorbing music experience. Some audiophile,s are NEVER satisfied unless you spend $$$$ on audio, just remember you get what you pay for and you can over pay, I set a nice budget and and didn't,t go cheap or $$$$ I,m very happy with my Focal clear MG,S!

Shout from the rooftops!
It can be hard to judge how something will sound just from reading impressions online - especially with all of the vague and confusing terms floating around. I've read every review and watched every video related to these headphones prior to buying them (how can you not for this price) - and none of them prepared me for what I've just experienced. In short:These are incredible, miraculously detailed in every aspect of the sound, and most of all - these sound HUGE! The presence of the sound hitting your ears, it's almost overwhelming at times. NOBODY talks about what bass monsters these are! I didn't even know headphones could capture the presence of a home theater, ESPECIALLY in an open back. If you can afford it, you should do yourself the favor of experiencing this.In long:You hear the same thing over and over from people who aren't into audio. Why would someone spend $1.5k on a headphone? How good can it possibly sound? Yet they have no problem spending the same mount on a higher end TV. It's because everyone has seen a high end TV compared to a low end TV in passing, it's obvious what the money gets you...Almost nobody has heard a $1.5k headphone, therefor they can't possibly understand, having no frame of reference. Honestly, neither have I until I got these, I bought them on blind faith that they would be better than everything else I have. Boy am I glad I took the jump. The difference is huge with these. I was concerned that a $1.5k headphone wouldn't be worth it (diminishing returns and all). I am happy to say I was wrong.Overall, I feel lucky. Lucky that I get to experience music so deeply. I wish everyone could have these to enjoy music with.I don't know how much higher this audiophile journey goes. Is an Abyss AB-1266 that much higher of a jump than these?Only one way to find out.-PS: If you spend enough time researching, the audiophile world really has people believing that amplifiers and DACs have as much difference between them as one headphone to another. This is dead wrong at best, and nefarious at worst. This sentiment is pushed by equipment manufacturers looking to cash in on the subjective nature of this hobby. It has people spending $400 on a Amp/DAC stack for their $200 headphones, where the money would be much better spent on a $500 headphone and a $100 Amp/DAC. Save up for a good headphone, that's where the real differences are.-My comparison items: Sennheiser HD 6XX. Bayerdynamic 880 DT 250ohm. HiFiMan HE-400i. Sony MDR-MA900. Blue Monkey Flyer Mod T50RP. Philips X2. Beyerdynamic T1. Paradigm Studio 20 v5 Speakers.Sources: JDS O2, JDS OLDAC, CmoyBBv2, TheBit Opus #11, ifi hipDac, ifi iDSD Signature

Incredible
Great with details, great with texturing vocals, a lil dark sounding but then again I'm coming from the very bright Hifiman Anandas so just about anything sounds dark by comparison. Better quality bass than the DT 1770pros which are known for their bass primarily. Better clarity than the Ananda's, but slightly more fatiguing because the slam on these blows away anything I've heard on headphones - and remember these are open back where slam is not usually a strength. Took a few days of frequent listening to break them in as they did Not sound good at the start. The only negative I can think of - the quarter inch cable it comes with is abysmal. Moving it slightly drastically reduces sound quality and quantity. Haven't tried the XLR connection, hopefully it's better. But this grievance isn't worth deducting a full star.
