Great aid
This book is an easy read. Make sure you have post its or some type of text marker unless you want to be bending the pages. I love that it's an easy read and has a lot of helpful tips. It's not that this book holds any secrets or it's stuff we never do, it just gives parents a little clarity on how to make the moments with our kids more meaningful by turnimg them into teachable moments without it being boring or something embarrassing you don't wanna do in public. My youngest is becoming more talkative as time goes on-do I give credit to the book? In a way, yes, it helped open up my eyes to things I was already doing that made me feel good but it also provided me with other options of things I just was not considering. Consistency is key of course. Worth the money and I would buy it again. Also when you don't need it anymore pass it on to a friend who might need it for their kids. 🥰

UMMM this book is so fantastic. If you're a new mom or aunt
UMMM this book is so fantastic. If you're a new mom or aunt, like I am, you often feel overwhelmed with talking with a toddler and figuring out ways to interact with them. If you talk to them like a baby, you risk developmental issues but then on the other hand, they like being talked to like babies!!! It's a catch 22. This book was an amazing resource to help battle some of this issues and really helped come up with fun and creativegames that also help develop their skills! Some of these things are simple and common sense - like reading to your child being a good thing - common sense, we all read to our children (hopefully) but there were other things like how to deal with the dentist or religion - but done for a toddler - which was amazing! I mean to be honest, some adults need to read this just for engaging with other adults lol... but real talk, this book is incredible as a resource for any new parent or someone dealing with a toddler on a regular basis. I do wish the book had images but I get it, this book is genuinly an educational resource for you and it should be treated as such! Definitely some fun ways to encourage developmental growth - my niece had such a fun time making home made card with me - what a great card. Her parents appreciated it too :)

Great tool to foster communication!
This book is a great guide for anyone interacting with children, whether it be a seasoned parent or new, someone who works with children, or even I God-parent like me.I always knew that you were supposed to talk with children to support language growth, but it felt awkard at times. Authors Teresa and Laura Laikko have given me ideas in using conversations that directly correlate to the child and your interactions together. I like their ideas of using "Parallel talk," which consists of talking aloud to describe what your child is doing. I've started to use this frequently as my God-daughter is not very verbal yet. What I like most about this book is that many concepts that can be used continously as a child grows, even if the child isn't very verbal like reading engaging books together (flaps, flips, and textures), using bath paints and "painting" with water on the sidewalk. As the child gets older, concepts like "Calendar Time (Learning days of the week)," "Mystery Bag (Describing the shape and feel of objects)" and helping them make their own books are great learning tools that are not only fun, but engaging.

Full of Great Ideas!
This is a really helpful and informative book for anybody with a toddler in the home. While the title makes it sounds like a simple book (who doesn't talk to their child?) it is actually full of lots of useful tips and guides, so that your toddler can get the most out of interactions with you. The book dedicates some space to general speaking tips, such as self-talk and Milieu Teaching, the bulk of the book is focused on specific activities for communicating with your toddler. These are divided up by time and category, and many of them are very good! I did think some of them, visiting the fire station, yoga, fake dentist appointment, were a bit ambitious and not practical, but overall the quality is high and I would recommend this to anyone with a young toddler!

I highly recommend this book as a mother!
Talking to your toddler seems like a natural thing to do, but as a mother I believe I didn’t give my toddler all the opportunities to speak or think on his own. I knew exactly what he needed and I didn’t have him request or make any choices; I gave him what he needed sometimes before he asked. This book goes through the whole day to maximize the way you interact with your toddler to get them to think, request and speak for themselves. It helps you identify different opportunities that you wouldn’t think to have them make choices for themselves to get your toddler to speak from morning to evening, outings and even bath time. This little book covers a lot, developmental stages of language for your toddler, to things you can do to help them get ready for kindergarten. This is easy to read and a must for anyone with a new child. I highly recommend this book as a mother and a person who has worked with preschoolers for many years.

but this gave me some good ideas for play and how to talk to my ...
I talk to my toddler constantly, but this gave me some good ideas for play and how to talk to my toddler to intice a response. However, my son is 18 months, not talking at all yet (other things going on) and a lot of these activities are for older children or children who are already talking some. I would recommend it if your child is at least 2 and saying a few words.

Great strategies and activities for speech development!
This book is a very useful tool for helping my toddler speak more! I love the way this book is organized. It begins with techniques to guide you as a parent in eliciting speech and verbal responses. Then it breaks down types of activities to do with your toddler chronologically- in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Subsequently, it has chapters discussing other useful times for language activities - during errands, outings, holidays and special occasions. It also talks about dealing with big emotions and preschool. I really feel like this book has it all! The best part is many of the activities are low cost, free, or without props. My son’s speech has improved a lot from the strategies and activities in this book!
