I'm from Ukraine and in the '70s and '80s and early '90s all over Russia and Ukraine they have these massive containers that get hooked up to the car and get pulled anywhere in the city and during the summer they unhook these containers all over the place and they have usually one person selling this very tasty refreshing summer drink called "KVAS" made from bread and yeast, some make it from other ingredients and I learned that it can also be made using chicory root powder that dissolves instantly and turns out it tastes exactly like KVAS tasted back in the days. I highly recommend trying it. Here's the recipe, it's very simple and I am pretty confident most people especially kids will love this drink 👇Take 3 Liters of water and warm it up to room temperature Make sure it doesn't exceed 85° F and add one heaping tablespoon of chicory powder, then one non-heaping teaspoon of citric acid, about 200g of sugar but you can add more or less to reach your desired sweetness level, and after you mix everything in so everything is dissolved, the last ingredient is a teaspoon of dry yeast. Mix it in and leave it in a warm place or on the counter for 3 to 4 hours until you notice a little bubbles forming and a little foam is visible at the top which is a clear indication that fermentation process had started at which point you just bottle it up and put in the refrigerator preferably overnight and then it's ready to drink. When drinking don't shake the bottle but let the sediment stay at the bottom. The final product will be the color of black tea which would be brown and you'll taste bubbles and when you open the bottle after it set in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, when you open the bottle you should hear a hissing sound from gas which is CO2 gas accumulating and that's exactly what you want to happen which means the drink is ready and the recipe worked like it should. Wait until you try it because it tastes much better than kombucha and everyone will like it especially kids. Enjoy!

I usually purchase chicory coffee so when my daughter bought this for me, I was very interested. I tried it in the evening and was glad I did. It tasted just like my chicory coffee combo without the caffeine. I enjoyed it so much I bought another bag.

This is an excellent alternative for coffee. It’s a little strong so be careful with the amount to use. I would start with a smaller amount than is suggested.

This tastes great. Blend easy. But I'm confused about the nutrition. Is it really mostly fat? That's not what I understand about chicory root in general. Is there something different about this product than regular chicory, or is the label just WRONG?

100% Caffeine free Chicory is instant or rather in powder form. It's great for traveling because it comes in a pouch instead of a jar. The jar brand lets in too much air and the power soon turns solid and unusable. This pouch stays fresh and very usable. I do prefer the Chicory grounds over the instant powder.

Although it's not the most Pleasant tasting, it's an alternative coffee beverage.

I have been buying this for a few years now and have recommended to friends and family who also enjoy this. It tastes like hot chocolate and coffee had a baby and it's chicory root powder. I love drinking this when I'm craving coffee in the evening but don't want caffeine. It's very tasty with coffee creamer too 😋

I use chicory to make café au lait at home. I’ve been using Anthony’s chicory but decided to give this a try because it was almost half the price. Unfortunately, it lacks the flavor of the Anthony’s brand and leaves a bitter taste in my mouth when I’m finished. Maybe the difference is that Anthony’s is sourced in France and this one in India. Different climates and species of trees perhaps? I will say this, the processing quality of this chicory is excellent and it dissolves easily in water.Unfortunately, Amazon will not allow me to return this item so it’ll probably end up in the trash. I don’t know what else I would use it for.
