Quiet and effective
We use this overnight in the bedroom, and find it keeps the humidity level comfortable on the low setting. It's quiet; the most noise comes from the occasional gurgle as the bottom tray refills from the reservoir. Otherwise, there's just a low hum. It's easy to fill, and we use distilled water. So far, we're very pleased with the unit.

It started out whisper quiet and became a little noisier as time went on.
I really like how quiet it was at first but it became noisier as time went on, despite cleaning. I actually have 2 - one upstairs and one downstairs. The one I got from Amazon is not as quiet as the one I got from work as a 20-year anniversary gift.

So this lasted 2 years but considering it is only used 4-5 months per year it only lasts 1 year

Whatever is under or around will be wet.
The humidifier makes a lot of mist; however, it falls to the floor and makes everything around it wet. Even the top of the unit had puddles on it. I'm not sure if this is related to being cool mist, so I'm returning the unit and buying one with a warm mist option.

Does a great job of adding moisture to the air in absolute silence!
All around this is really a great mister that operates in complete silence.
