Very thorough, well explained
I read three different books cover to cover to prepare for the 601 exam, the W Conklin book, the official comptia study guide and this book. I found this book by Darill Gibson to contain the best presentation of the material out of all of them. Hard to believe he's only charging 9.99 for the Kindle edition, he could easily charge more for the value this book provides. The book is chock of full of quality content from the thorough explanations, great end of chapter questions, pre and post assessment questions, the key "remember this" notes and the end of chapter summaries which are very useful in final preparation. I love in his end of chapter questions that he explains not only why the correct answer is right, but why the other answers are wrong. That really makes a difference in understanding and I didn't see this level of detail and care in the other sources I used. Also thanks so much for not having any significant grammar or spelling mistakes. The other study guide books I read are chock full of them and make them look unprofessional. I recommend pairing this prep material with Jason Dion's practice exams and I think you'll be well on your way to being prepared for this exam.

Great so far
I decided to purchase this book after reading the SY0-601 text published by McGraw Hill as an extra study guide. I love the way Darill has set the book up right from the beginning inside the introduction. His study tips he provides were helpful when I took the pre-assessment in the text. I scored a 81% on 75 questions, which it not bad considering I used to average 75% with other types of practice tests. I am excited to see how I will score on the post-assessment once I finish the text. As with any cert exam you are studying for, I would not recommend using just one study source such as a textbook. I also use online courses, labs, and refer to other sources of material in addition to my two textbooks. I have been working in IT security for a little over a year, and so far I can tell that Darrill explains concepts in a way that anyone new to the field can grasp if they use the text and other resources appropriately. I took the 501 test in 2019 and did not pass. I used the McGraw Hill text then. I wish I would have gone with Darril’s version of the book then because his pre- and post-assessment questions are similar to how questions are worded on the actual exam. I highly recommend.Good luck to all in your studies!!

It's a decent guide that covers about 80% of the Sec+ test
Honestly, CompTIA tests suck. They have such a big range of questions, and 3rd-party study guides won't cover all the details of every topic.I passed the SY0-601 using a combination of 3 different guides, and NONE of them by itself was enough to pass the test. In fact, all 3 combined only covered about 95% of my test questions. I literally checked the study guides afterwards for the material I remember seeing on the test, and some of them weren't ever discussed. It was ridiculous.Darril Gibson's test will get you through 80% of the test, which is pretty good. I like how it was easy to read and engaging. Messer's will get you through 90% of the test, but I fell asleep through his material so many times. You'll want to score about 90% on the practice tests for both Gibson and Messer's guides to pass the CompTIA Sec+ exam.

The book to pass the exam
This is the primarily resource I used for passing the exam, passed in the first try under 2-3 weeks of studying! Read through the book once with identifying the key concepts and creating flash cards based on them. Definitely recommend this book! The actual exam questions are a little bit more tricky than the questions in the book, but they do provide you with the ability to get ready and find out how the strategy works.

Books great. Rip author.
This books offers a great wealth of resource for the CURRENT sec+ 601. Meaning if they released another revision do find another updated book. But the gentlemen who wrote this book knew what he was doing and even worded the questions as they are on thr actual exam. There really hard questions to. So be prepared for red hearings and trick questions. There are no simple questions on the current sec+ exam. The sec+ exam essentially gives you 4 right answers and you have to pick what fits the context and what is the most practical. So hone your critical thinking skills. Because this book helps GUIDE you in that direction. I passed because of this and Jason dion on udemy. Good stuff. Be familiar with the concept with examples. Rather memorization.
