IMPROVED design, even better than before, 100% worth buying
I love Japanese goods! These are unbelievable quality for the low price, and the new holster/scabbard is way, way better than the old one! You can wear it on your belt loop or just on rim at the top of your pants (excellent design), it doesn't rattle, it has a hole to drip liquid from at the end, it holds the knife very securely but with proper technique removal is a cinch with only one hand. It is my favorite scabbard on any knife I have ever owned, so great job, Nisaku! You absolutely should buy one of these. I have a good hula hoe and a decent ryobi cordless weed whacker and this hori hori still gets used regularly for certain tasks.I have several hori horis and this is the best.

Very solid
I had a Fiskars version of this but my wife snapped the handle off of it while digging out day lilly roots. This one is much sturdier. It has a full tang and solid wood grips. It cuts roots very well and is an excellent pryer. The included scabbard is a very tight fit and it is a bit of a pain to use but it works very well. I usually don't carry it in the scabbard while using it and just store it in it.

This Knife's got heft!
I wasn't expecting this knife to be as hefty as it was. Fit and finish is simplistic but highly functional. Like a Camry, lol.The fact that its chrome plated makes it much easier to clean and does add an additional layer of protection from corrosion. I'm also loving the sheath. Reminds me of a Mora Knife sheath. The blade offers a smooth edge and a serrated edge. The smooth side is sharp and the serrated side had an aggressive bite. So be careful handling this tool.Definitely a good quality tool that should last for years to come.

Forget your trowel!
This tool is incredible! I may never use a conventional trowel again, and I am an avid gardener. Give it a try, it is well worth it. Great for pulling weeds and everything you need while working in the beds. Very sturdy, looks like it will last. The case is very sturdy but it is hard to get it out and get the case onto your belt, so I just pull it out and take it everywhere with me and then put it in the case when I am done. Great tool!

Great garden tool
Digs out weeds, cuts roots, digs holes and has measurements on the side. Works just like a trowel.

Looks like a useful tool
I am anxious to use this as soon as spring comes. I hand weed my perennial bed and come across lots of plants that need dividing. This looks like it's sturdy, strong, sharp, and will do the trick. I don't think I would wear it on the belt though; too clumsy. I like that it has its own sheath for protection.

Love this!
I use this for all sorts of jobs in the garden and yard and I love the functionality. Other brands may work as well, I don’t know, but I love this tool!

Works even in hard, dry soil
I live in the desert Southwest, where we have heavy, clay based soil. Normally, I have to wait for a rain in order to pull or dig weeds, as attempting to use a shovel only injures my body. This is so sharp it can be pushed directly into the earth, and so strong it can then be angled into the offending, deep tap roots of native weeds, or any other types. I have accomplished a lot of work in short order with this tool. Well worth the money!
