Plug-and-Play
I installed Ubuntu Linux on an old Windows Vista laptop, but the operating system did not recognize the built-in WiFi adapter. I spent hours trying to get it to work, to no avail. I purchased this dongle and plugged it into an unused USB port and bazinga, I had WiFi. It was really that easy. The adapter came with a CD ROM containing device driver software, but it wasn't needed. It was totally plug-and-play.

Good enough for the money
I bought two of these and they appear to work just fine so far. I did find two minor issues.They get quite hot, I have other similar USB wifi dongles that don't get nearly as hot.Both of them had the same hardware address, a definite standards violation since every device is required to have a unique hardware address. It means you can't use two of these on the same network without forcing a hardware address change in software. Fairly easy to take care of in linux where I'm using them.Since neither issue is more than an annoyance and the price is good, I give them a 4.

MT7601U - Driver built into Linux kernel
Great backup wifi. It’s 2.4 GHz only. It’s super slow, but it bails me out of a jam sometimes when my primary wifi card has a driver problem up and I need to run another update to fix it.Driver is built into Linux kernel since forever so this wifi chip is supported by a lot of old and weird hardware. Very compatible.

Follow instructions for drivers and you will no issues with universal connections. Windows should find it no issues. Linux, Mint worked perfectly.

you get what you Pay for
it constantly disconnects, I have tried on windows 7 and windows 10 and the same thing happens
