Gorgeous picture, bright, and solid and it's 16:10!
Like others I upgraded from what appears to be the grand dad of this monitor, the Dell Ultrasharp U2410. It too is a very premium 16:10 display and lasted me 11 years (and still looks perfect). I could not be happier. The display of the UP3017 is flawless—no stuck pixels, no backlight bleed, and no apparent uniformity issues. If you're looking for thin and light, just move on. This is a substantial monitor with some mass to it and the bezels aren't minimal. Like my old U2410, the stand is superb and strong and has a very wide range of adjustments. I look forward to my next Ultrasharp some time in 2033.

It's not that I hate the monitor
It's not that I hate the monitor. It's easy to dial in good color accuracy with the gamut and color temperature controls. I like the 30" screen size and 16:10 2560x1600 resolution (I don't need a 32" 4K display). The problem is Dell's "warranty." The monitor developed a pink vertical line, a couple of pixels wide, that runs from top to bottom on the screen. Of course, this happened 38 days after delivery, outside of Amazon's return window. As it turns out, that is also outside Dell's comical "warranty," which provides only a refurb after 30 days, even for something like this that's clearly a manufacturing defect. So now, 1 month into the lifespan of an expensive product that should last for several years, I've paid full retail price and ended up stuck with a used monitor.Plus, this is my first Dell product. Think I'll ever buy another one?So, yeah, not super happy. Buyer beware.

This is a good monitor IMHO
Not an industry professional, with any extensive requirements or need for color correct monitor, but wanted a monitor that was good. This is a good monitor, might even be a great if judged by someone that might be subject matter expert. The white bleed in the corners is minimal (something all IPS monitors deal with) and almost no-existent. The non-reflective screen is wonderful compared to my Dell 27in IPS monitor, which was good as well, but reflection issue was at times a bit distracting, this monitor does not have this issue at all. The colors are sharp and clear, my 50 year old eyes have no issues with this monitor. The brightness is over the top, had to tone it down quite a bit, since my home office is a bit dark, but am sure this monitor would show strong and bright in any professional environment, given how the brightness can be dialed up. At 2560x1600, HDMI was fine. But did have some issues with flickering and sleep mode issues due to the crap DisplayPort cable that came with the monitor. All flickering and sleep mode issues disappeared with a qualify DisplayPort cable. Tested with an ATI R9 380 adapter and 1M and 2M cables. Not a gamer, so can't qualify it in context to how it does a 30 or 60 fps, but typical video presentation is good, watch quite a few DVDs and youtube videos on this monitor with any issues.

Probably the last of the 30" 16:10 monitors and the best one so far!
One of the few 16:10 monitor's still available that is very large, very sharp and has great color accuracy out of the box. I previously had a Dell U3011 which I purchased in 2013 and after five years of 8 to 10 hours of daily use, it was getting dimmer and before there were no other 16:10 options available I decided to buy Dells latest version of their 30" 2560 x 1600 resolution monitor with LED back lighting rather than CFL which dims over time. Comparing this monitor to my previous 30" Dell is like night and day. This monitor appears to be much sharper even though the resolution is the same, the contrast is much better and the colors pop though are not over saturated. It's amazing how you become accustomed to the gradual decrease of those visual qualities over time and how greatly you appreciate them when can A/B both monitors side by side and compare them.I did receive a defective U3017 initially, it had a noticeable pink tint on the left side of the screen however, Amazon gladly took it back and the second one has no discernible issues having run it through a series of tests for color/brightness uniformity and defective pixels - all is well. I have been using it now daily for nearly two months and am very pleased with my purchase. If you do a lot of photo editing as I do or even spend a lot of time reading complex documents and want a taller page rather than a wider one, this is your monitor!

Not suitable for office work
Pros: Excellent connectivity, very good colors. Cons: Poor contrast, 16:10, backlight bleeding is worse than can be expected from such an expensive monitor. Bottom line: good monitor for graphic designers, but not suitable for anything else, like office work, programming, fast-moving video/game, etc.

Controls and hookup are much worse than previous Dell 30" monitors
I bought this to replace an aging Dell U3011, and its been a real disappointment. I could not detect any difference in image quality, I guess I have gotten spoiled with.Dell no longer includes DVI cable connections, which is a much bigger problem than I first realized. I use my monitor with a KVM, and so I either need to get a KVM that supports HDMI or DisplayPort, or convert the DVI coming out of my current KVM. The KVM switches for DVI don't go up to the native 2560 resolution, the ones for DisplayPort all seem to have problems keeping the USB ports alive, and there does not appear to be any way to convert DVI Dual Link (2560 resolution) to HDMI or Display Port. So it seems that this monitor is pretty much unusable with a KVM.I thought of using the monitor itself as the KVM, but the input selection is clumsy and hard to use. The buttons are under the monitor bezel, and it takes two hands to use them, one to press the button and the other to hold the monitor from tilting. The cable hookups at the back were also hard to get at. The older U3011 had cable pictures under the connector so you could see which way the cable needed to be turned. The new monitor has no such pictures so you have to get under the thing to see. Dell helpfully(?) suggests that you tilt the monitor 90 degrees, but I'd need longer cables just to do that. For $1000, why can't there be the pictures to make it easy.
