Effective cold weather bag
I bought this to use in lieu of my military sleeping system. I'm 5'10" and 145lbs. My set up is this bag, a one-man tent, a half foam/half inflatable sleeping pad, a milsurp wool blanket, and disposable hand warmers in case I need heat in an emergency. The bag takes up almost a third of the space as my 2-bag military combo while being significantly more effective at keeping me warm. I took it out for a test run last night at about 5,400ft elevation with predicted temps overnight around 36°F. I stayed up till 0430 just to see how low the ambient temperature would get. It didn't quite get below freezing, only about 37°F, but I suspect the 23°F rating Snugpak claims is accurate, even for someone as scrawny as myself. I had no problems sleeping comfortably with my set up. Now, I will admit that I did have my wool blanket on top of me, but it was more for personal comfort. I was sleeping in less than I would normally have to wear with my old set up, which is great when clean, warm clothes to sleep in aren't an option. I got up once to go use the restroom and didn't have any issue gaining back the heat I lost from exiting.Being 5'10", I still had room at the footbox for the next day's shirt and pair of socks. As an unexpected bonus, the interior of the footbox is lined with a sturdier material than the rest of the bag, meaning you could sleep with your boots on and not worry about damaging the material. The hood of the bag wraps around my head quite comfortably with a drawstring and there weren't any rough surfaces or zippers rubbing my face. The zippers are a bit tricky to use, but for good reason. They're designed like genuine YKK locking zippers, meaning they will only open/close if you are directly pulling along the length of the zipper. This prevents them from easing open during the night, but it might mean a delay in exiting the bag in an emergency. The stuff sack keeps the whole thing in a small volume of space. It fits easily into the bag and cinches down without Herculean strength. I typically don't use stuff sacks as it's usually more effective to just stuff the item directly into whatever bag you're using, but it did make it possible to fit the bag in my motorcycle's saddlebag. It's always nice to limit the amount of things that are strapped to the outside of your kit.The space savings alone make this bag stand out to me the most. I could pack a liner and extra base layers with this bag and still have room for more in the space my old set up would have used. I slept comfortably without having to use my hand warmers and wasn't scrambling to start a campfire in the morning for warmth. Be sure to store the bag uncompressed to get the most longevity out of the bag.

Excellent
This bag is amazing the extended panel for the zipper makes it worth it’s weight in gold. I can sleep and not fell the bag squeeze me like normal bags. It's super warm I used it only in Syria in a light fighter tent without any issues in the winter months. Well in the 20s, and when it was colder or at least felt that way I added the jungle bag for extra insulation and it was more than enough. I recommend all snugpak gear I’m 5-10 and I fit great in the bag packs up way smaller than army issue gear weighs less as well .The pictures you see are in the big tents (without heat) different times of the year ,and in the light fighter tent early fall winter I added the jungle bag just for safe measures in the late winter coldst months so I could get a full night of sleep jsut to be safe . Any questions or concerns hit me up I'll respond asap.

Snugpak Softie Elite 3, Olive.
A very nice piece of kit. Well finished with all the advertised features. It is a true military style sleeping bag and a must have for those intent on equipping themselves with the best of gear. Contrary to one reviewer the single zip puller traverses freely through a channel in the zip toggle allowing it to be used from the outside or inside of the bag. I’m not sure if this applies to all Snugpak sleeping bags but both of my Snugpak Softie Elite bags came with a scratty sub-standard little 3cm zip puller on the main zip, the like of which you might find on a lightweight jacket. Not what you want to be struggling to find when youare trying to get in or out of your bag in the field the middle of the night. I removed these on both my bags and replaced them with a decent length of paracord to match the colour of the bag. Come on Snugpak, you can do better than this. It would also be of great assistance if the product description on this site clearly stated whether the item is a left hand or a right hand zip since Snugpak produce both.Snugpak make some nice gear and this will fit well with my Snugpak Ionosphere tent. My initial impression is just how compact and light weight it is. It fits in my pack nicely and is much more compact than the civilian style bag I have been using. Whether it will perform to the advertised -5°/-10°C (23°/14°F) I have my doubts due to its light weight but only time will tell ? I’m looking forward to field testing this item. Made in Cambodia.

I'm a 6'2 +/- 230 lbs and I don't like my thighs touching when I'm trying to sleep
I'm a 6'2 +/- 230 lbs and I don't like my thighs touching when I'm trying to sleep. A normal sized sleeping bag is tight around my legs and makes me feel like a merman, then gives me duck butter. This one I can move around a lot when the extender is used, I used it for third season elk in CO. It got to around 30 degrees at night but I stayed plenty warm with this bag on a cot. It's well thought out, where you can tighten the collar around your neck to keep the breeze out, and then tighten the face hole around your head and it keeps my shoulders warm. It also packs up small in my ruck. I really dig it. For the money it's top notch.

Really nice bag for the money
Not a super lightweight bag, but this also isn't $200. I've been using this bag in my hammock during the past few weeks in socal. Temps have been in the low 40's into the high 30's during the night & I have gotten hot a couple of times. I've only used this in the 20's one time in my tent & I needed to add my blanket, which was perfect. I'm giving this product 5/5 stars because this thing is perfect for cold nights. However, the stuff sack that is included is terrible. The added strap "retainers" on the stuff sack really complicate tightening & loosening the straps completely, so I removed them. I really liked the added zipper on the bag in order to make the bag roomier.
