S&BGolden Curry Sauce Mix, Mild, 8.4-Ounce

This has the best flavor when it comes to curry! I purchased the mild because I know I can add red pepper flakes to create a medium or hot curry. I took some chicken legs, onion cut large, added Knorr chicken stock, water, a little Lawreys seasoning, 2 teaspoons of Haldi seasoning / Tumeric and allowed it to boil in a good sized pot until the chicken was almost done. I added carrots 🥕, green peas and peeled red potatoes cut small, allowed it to boil until the potatoes were almost done. Added four blocks of the curry which thickened the roux. I made a pot of Mahatma rice. It was DELICIOUS!!! I’m ordering more to do this same meal in my Itaki electric lunch box so I can cook at work. SUPER FAST SHIPPING! Thank You!

We had bought this in an Asian market a while ago, and we loved it! But all the time and cost of having to travel so far to get something so delicious was a bit off-putting. So my hubby suggested we try to see if Amazon has it, and viola! This is exactly what we had gotten from the market and it came quickly and easily. No more traveling for traditional Japanese curry (unless we order from a restaurant, of course).This is not indian curry at all. It goes delicious with just about anything - any protein (though I prefer chicken and pork), an all veggie-meal or just rice. DELICIOUS!

The smell permeates the house, not hot in spice at all. I cook half the package in crockpot with almost 2 lbs stew beef,few yukon potatoes,carrots and onion.I had looked online and the amount of bricks you put in seems to differ from person, some even mis the heat degrees, like half of mild and half hot to get desired kick. I like that it is in brick form,and that you get at least 2 meals out of a package, I could get more if I had used less bricks but I wanted the standard amount of gravy.Will reorder and possibly other heats to mix.the taste is curry like without the bitterness or sharpness,it is like stew beef and gravy kicked up a notch, you can taste little cinnamon,nutmeg,and of course the turmeric.It smells like a spice factory in my home currently.

I think even people who think they don't like curry will like this.....I did! The first time I had it, I was at my sisters & she made some. She said it was pretty close to what they were used to in Japan (stationed in Marines @ the time). This is really good with not a really strong curry taste but then I get the mild. We use it over brown rice with some canned venison & veggies. My husband who thinks he doesn't like curry either absolutely loved it.

Like: Handy for a quick meal, when you're not in the mood to cook. Flavorful, rather than mostly salty taste like some instant soups/ramen are. Minimal packaging. Easy to open. Compact package. Stores well. Portion sizes are adjustable.Dislike: high in MSG.It works well with many ingredients:pork, chicken, shrimp, tofu, mixed vegetables, stir fried vegetables.Good with or without rice. Buttered bread is a good side item too.I don't like to use convenience foods due to the additives. This one is still superior to many American products despite the msg.There's no high fructose corn syrup, no fd&c colors, no chemical sugar substitute, no sodium benzoate or potassium sorbet, no nitrites, no sulfites.As an occasional indulgence, on lazy days, it is ok. Not for regular use because of the msg. (Documented health effects with routine use.)Note Japanese products have stricter rules than American ones, due to the permissive FDA stance on allowed additives.***comments apply to all 3 hotness levels. The curry has a good flavor.

I studied abroad in Tokyo for 4 months and one thing I miss the most is CoCo Ichiban. I was looking for a curry that was similar to their mild curry and this matches it almost exactly! It has almost no kick which is fine for me but if you want spice definitely get one of the hotter levels. It's so easy to use but one block does make a lot at once so definitely break the blocks up if you're just making it for yourself. I'm so happy with this and will definitely buy again!

This product was on the market until recently and suddenly dropped off the grocery shelves. Finding it on Amazon was a relief. We have hosted several Japanese students in the past, and each time, they would make dinner for us one evening. This is what they used, and as it turns out, they even used the recipe from the package. (I found that out after our second student was with us). It is more expensive than I've paid in the grocery stores, but I'm happy to be able to get it. It makes a delicious meal!
