Works well, good clean sound.
Used this to connect from tv optical output to old Philips prologic receiver with no digital inputs (just red/white rca connections). Very good sound transfer with no interference. Saved me buying a new soundbar. Advise to get a good quality red/white rca lead to use with this. Very good value.

Cheap DAC that works!
Having a new TV with no analogue audio outputs (apart from a headphone socket) and an integrated amplifier with no digital inputs, I needed a DAC so I bought this one as it is very reasonably priced. It worked straight away with no problems and the sound seems fine. The optical cable that came in the box was flimsy unlike the 3m Amazon basics optical cable that I had also bought. Although it says that this is a 192KHz DAC, no where is it mentioned if this is a 16, 24 or 32 bit DAC. The red power LED seems to be overly bright for such a small DAC and I would have preferred a more subtle power LED. Overall, considering the price, I am very happy with this DAC.

Great little product
The media could not be loaded. I bought this after buying a new smart tv which didn’t have a 3.5mm audio input. I connected the product directly into my tv using the supplied optical cable which clicks nicely into the product. I then plugged bought a 3.5mm jack to RCA cable which plugs into the product using the red / white input cables and then plugged the 3.5mm jack into the other end. Works perfectly and has saved me buying a new sound bar…

Works well
Gave this a 5 star rating as I have nothing to compare it with, but it does an excellent job for my requirements. Bought to connect non-bluetooth wireless headphones to a Freeview television. The headphones worked perfectly with my set, but when I got a Firestick they couldn't pick up the digital signal. This easy to install little box has solved this problem, although I did have to buy the coaxial cable as my television doesn't have a Toslink port. Can now access all channels on Freeview and Firestick. Delighted.

Does it do the job?
I purchased this little device to allow me to output the audio from my new smart tv to my stereo amplifier which is an older device but has good sound. Hence needing something to fill my needs in absence of the appropriate connections on my telly. For more specific detail on tha aforementioned point My new tv doesn't have any RCA outputs. RCA outputs are the red and white sockets on older audio equipment.Nor does the tv have an headphone wired output because it's all Bluetooth regarding headphones. The connections available on the tv for audio output are Optical otherwise known as Toslink or HDMI eARC.I decided to go down the path of the Optical connection because prior to this point. I didn't know much about the new HDMI eARC set ups.So did it do the trick? Well, yes to a point I can now output the audio from my tv to my amplifier. However one caveat, that I didn't realise, was that I would lose the benefit of using my tv remote to control the volume output. That discovery was a bit of a downer to be fair. Yet it's not the devices fault. It was my error in not being as read up as I should have been on Optical outputs.Optical outputs as I now know are based on optical fibre cables and pulses of light which don't allow volume control. That volume control will be controlled my whatever input device you are using. In my case the aforementioned amplifier.I do have some volume control but that is relying on the physical knob on my amplifier but it has no remote. Which isn't ideal but looking on the glass half full rather than half empty. It will encourage more physical activity in having to get up. Rather than just going for the easy option of staying sat down.If you're not needing remote control or your input device has remote volume control? Then this little device will do the trick. If however you're a serious audiophile? The signal will be a little compressed for your needs but you will know this anyway.I dare say I would have had no issue returning the item to Amazon but I just couldn't be bothered with the hassle and more time expended waiting for a collection. Time is money and all that. So I've hung on to it for convenience's sakeRegarding returns though. It would be a good shout from Amazon if they included return labels with items they ship because not everyone has a printer and it would just be nice addiction to an otherwise good serviceToodle loo.😀

Cheap and works.
Matchbox by size and weight. Foolproof connections so had it running in a minute.I have this completing the link between a pair of decade old Soundblaster desktop speakers with RCA input and the Arris Freesat box optical output. Playing some loud rock music on YouTube app it sounds absolutely fine with no apparent artifacts. Hard to dismiss at this price.

Did not work
Sadly this DAC unit did not work. The red light came on when I powered it up but despite checking all the cables I could not get a peep out of it. The TV settings were correct for optical out and PCM so I concluded the unit was dud. Returned it to Amazon and bought an alternative which worked quite well ( see my review)
