lots of useful features
This is an IP phone which means no static, wrong volume, or random touch tone noises like you get with a regular cordless phone paired with an ATA. Other advantages of IP phones include immediate display of caller ID instead of between the first and second rings, instant call initiation after dialing, a voicemail blinking light, multiple call handling, multiple account registration, and support for wideband voice quality.Other people reverted to their terrible sounding cellphones when given only desk phones, so it had to be cordless. Cordless also means it's easier to deploy where Cat6 wiring needed for desk phones is not present. The base station can be powered with either 802.3af or AC adapter. Very useful if you want to leverage an existing UPS backed PoE infrastructure to ride out blackouts or want to ceiling mount it for better coverage. Handsets charge off cradles or you can use the micro USB port on their bottoms.Opus codec is supported which is more bandwidth efficient and tolerant of packet loss than G.722 (like all CAT-iq phones it transmits G.722 over the air, so some quality loss results from transcoding G.722 to Opus and vice versa). Speakerphone function is full duplex to allow natural conversation flow. Finally it uses standard LSD NiMH AAA batteries instead of a custom NiMH pack or lithium polymer battery. No more throwing away a phone because the battery pack wore out and replacement parts approach the cost of a whole new unit!Pairing the handset to the base was straightforward, as was typing in my VoIP account credentials. Voice quality is great. Not better than a Polycom but this is half the cost of their DECT solution. You need to correct the firmware update server URL, otherwise clicking the check firmware update button is useless. There appears to be a day light savings time bug if you enable DHCP option 2 support instead of manually selecting a time zone. Otherwise I have no complaints.

Works as expected
I wish there was more to say. It has all the features I wanted. Setting up a global directory for all phones on the base unit to use is more work than it should be, but if you're comfortable downloading and uploading files from a web browser and using Notepad to edit files, it shouldn't be a struggle for you.Range and quality is great - base station is 2 floors away from some phones with no drop in quality.

Ringer Not loud enough
Don't waste your money on these phones. We had them for a few months and the ringer was so low you could barely hear it in our office. They are easy to setup with Telzio but thats the extent of the the positives. We'd answer a call and half the time the person on the other line would just hear air. We switched to the yealink w56p. They were a little different to setup (not too bad) with Telzio but once they were up, they are awesome. Ringer on them is super load for a place like ours and the sound quality is excellent. We do use the grandstream landline phone and they work great but these wireless phones are pretty bad

Nice Cordless Phone
Nice cordless phones. Good feature set. Easy to pair. I'm using two on a DP750 base. Overall, there is some voice delay. Not entirely the phone's fault, but you should be aware. (VOIP SIP trunks, internal network, DECT radio to base station -- there's a lot of translating going on). Voice quality is good. Screen is good (but small). It's nice that you can charge these with wall wart or with USB cable.I'm sure you are aware the this is for VOIP and that means some configuration if you are doing it yourself. This is not like plugging in an analog DECT wireless phone.

Great compromise between consumer wireless phones and full-blown enterprise PBX
Once you get over the learning curve of how to provision these devices, it becomes quite easy to maintain them. This phone and a compatible micro-pbx is a good way for a small business (or tech-obsessed home) to have all the features of a full-blown enterprise voice platform at a price not much higher than a single-line cordless home phone system.Build quality certainly a step up from retail/consumer phones, but not on par with the big-name brands.Only caveat: there’s a big step from consumer viop providers and commercial SIP providers. Expect to invest some time and a little hair-pulling unless you’re familiar with the terminology and practices of SIP trunking.
