Battery lasted about a week in Mini-Cooper key fob.
Battery was physically a good replacement for the original battery (i.e., the form factor was the same). After the battery was installed, it worked as expected for about a week, then failed. When removed the battery voltage was ~0.2 volts, suggesting that the battery completely failed and was not just depleted. The voltage of the removed battery was ~2.6 volts when allowed to rest. This is what I would expect of a depleted battery. I have put the 2nd battery of the order into the fob, and it is working as expected. Its initial voltage was 3.0 volts. I will report on its life later. Right now I do not expect much. The ordered batteries were made Indonesia under the Panasonic brand and have a date code of 9Y23. The original battery was made in Japan and is also branded Panasonic. The form factor is VL-2020/HCN.Since my wife's key is working fine, I know that the car is functioning ok. If this 2nd battery also fails prematurely, I will try another vendor. If I continue to have failures, it could mean that my fob is damaged and I will change my review. Only time will tell, but for now I believe the battery to be the issue.UPDATE: 9/16/20 - The 2nd battery failed, just days after installation.

Fixed my Mini Cooper key
Totally unbelievable that my Mini Cooper has a soldered in battery inside a sealed case. Clearly a tactic intended to force customers to buy a new overpriced key from their dealership as soon as the battery dies.Anyway, I was able to cut the case open with a fine tooth thin blade dowel saw and replace the battery inside with some small amount of de-soldering/soldering. Try this before you visit Mini and waste $$$ on a new key (it's really not that difficult if you've ever soldered) ... I really hate to see these absolutely disgraceful BMW sales gouging tactics be successful. My own Mini key worked just fine with this replacement battery (three buttons and car start) but I will never buy another Mini Cooper vehicle! Unbelievably tacky.

Not the right fit for my vehicle.
Same number for the battery but two different post configurations. Make sure you get the right one!

Key was locking/unlocking doors, but wasn't starting car
My 2013 Mini key fob (R56, I think) wouldn't start the car; I would just put the key in and nothing would happen. I didn't suspect the key's battery because it was locking and unlocking doors just fine, and the key is still supposed to start the car even if the battery is dead. The spare key was behaving the same way.Well, long story short, I got a new key from the dealership for $240 (!) and it worked. Then I figured I would experiment soldering batteries into the old keys. It wasn't too difficult - used a utility knife tip to carefully cut open the key fob, pulled out the board, used a soldering iron to heat up the spots to pop off the old battery, heated up the spots to pop in the new battery, put it back in the fob. And to my surprise, it actually worked and was able to start my car. I guess a low/dead battery was interfering with starting the car after all, no idea.I'll keep the old keys with new batteries as backups, I suppose.
