Better than most competitors, still useless to me
The bad: I need something to measure the depths of scratches in aluminum alloy sheet metal. With the only useful tip installed, like so many others, this gauge won’t zero. The tip is too long. When you bottom out the mechanism, it still extends something like .070” beyond the base.So it’s useless to me.But there’s got to be some other use out there for which everyone keeps buying these cheap made-in-China gauges with thick tips of varying lengths, and this one is surely among the best you’ll find. The case was especially impressive.

Not accurate
The base and tips are excellent, but the dial indicator is not accurate. In .150" inch of travel, it's off by .001". My $20 cheap indicator is far more accurate than that.
