Q: Do you have to use the hose?

That unit was terrible. Too hard and the weight from the head flipped it. Not good. Don’t buy it. Buy the softer blow up ones. Some come with a water bag and hose. You drain it into a plastic jug. I bought a cheap IV wall mount bracket to hang over the bed on the wall

Yes, you can, pay attention to the size of the hose, you can change to a longer hose as long as it is the right size

The basin is hard plastic. It doesn’t fit in any of my sinks so best to measure your sink and see if it is larger than basin. The basin works great for my husband who is disabled. We use it to wash his hair while he lies on the bed.
