MAXPEDITION Gear Tactical Luggage Lock

I purchased this lock not for luggage but for use on a hard sided toolbox used to hold for transport an expensive & heavy lens. My concern was not to have a lock to prevent theft as I figure someone would just take the toolbox (but I suppose that would apply to luggage too), although it might be of value if left in a motel room, keeping the honest from peering in out of curiosity and then being tempted. Because the latch of the toolbox is almost too easy to open I wanted a backup or fail-safe way to protect the lens should the latch catch on something or not be closed all the way, inadvertently opening. Because I could never find the exact dimension of the closed lock, from the top of the lock to the apex of the cable, I wasn't 100% sure this lock would work for my purposes. FWIW: That dimension is 1 & 1/2 inches (1.5 inches). The diameter of the metal end of the cable shank which inserts into the lock is 1/8 inch (also a dimension I wasn't sure of), the cable obviously being slightly smaller in diameter. I drilled a hole slightly larger than 1/8" (9/64") through a tab on the box to be able to store the lock when not used as a safe-guard, as well as making a second locking position. All this can be seen in the photographs plus one image shows what the back of the lock looks like.The lock feels hefty, weighty; having a rock solid feel. When the cable shank is engaged in the lock there is a positive feel with an audible click so you know it's securely engaged. Like: 1) there is no key to fumble with, keep track of, etc.; 2) when set on the selected combination, a push of the button which protrudes on one side allows the cable to literally pop open; and 3) the flexibility of cable allows options for use that a lock with a solid metal shackle or shank couldn't offer. Can use this lock easily in the dark if necessary just by squeezing on the protruding button to pop it open (when combination is set).

Easy to use and secure. It has helped me secure sensitive items across state lines and secure baggage through the airport. It adds peace of mind when traveling. It is small and low profile so I can keep it with me all the time. The wire is also small enough that it will fit through lockable zippers with ease. I will probably buy another as I use this more than I expected.

Nice little pad lock keeps the little ones out. wouldn't really be much to stop a determined thief, but it works for home and the range. Easy to open and close, just by squeezing the mechanism on the side. Using this on my Maxpedition single pistol case. will buy more for sure.

Great locks to secure lock capable zippers on high end tactical bags. They may not resist force entry with commercial cutting tools, but they will survive scissors. The purpose of these locks are to loosely keep nosy people from getting in certain pockets within your bag. They give a more private safe keeping. They are sleek and go well with tactical bags. I give them 4 stars!

It's a great little lock. Easy to use and set the combo. Won't keep out a pair of bolt cutters, but will keep out someone snooping or trying to pick a pocket.What I don't get is why they call this foliage green. This thing is grey. It's the exact same color grey as the grey zippers on all the AGR gear labeled as grey. If anything, the grey AGR fabric they use has a hint of foliage green it under certain lighting, but that is not true of the zippers or this lock. I was actually hoping this would be the case, just a bit odd and certainly not worthy of dropping a star.If you have Grey Maxpedition AGR gear and are looking for the correct color match for a lock, this (foliage green) is it.

Nothing crazy about this product. It doesnt make french fries or anything. It is advertised as what it is, and it does the job very well. For its size and weight it is effective and attractive. I have had no problems with it after using it for some time. Good product.
