The Ever Ready First Aid Universal Aluminum Splint is a 36-inch rolled splint designed for treating injured and fractured limbs. Weighing only 5 ounces, it features a lightweight aluminum core for flexibility and strength, is easy to store and transport, and is weatherproof and reusable. Its radiolucent design allows for X-rays without removal, and it can be easily cut to fit various injuries.

good generic emergency splint
I've carried one of these in my Scouting backpack for years. My strong recommendation is to unroll it flat, fold it to whatever length fits best, mold it to match to the curve of your spine, then stuff it down the back pocket as a comfortable stiffener to your pack. It weighs practically nothing, helps support the internal frame and is easily accessible if you ever have an emergency. It can be molded into several different configurations to splint a leg, an arm, even a temporary cervical collar if you know how. These generics get top ratings for value and function. I miss having the instructions printed on the foam, though (something I've only seen on the official SAM splints). Blank is fine for me because I've used them for years. They are a little less helpful for my Scouts who will have to use it when I'm the one with the broken leg.

Looks and feels great - hope never to use - but it looks good
These seem great - I have not seen or used the more expensive brand name, but these look good for the price. Instead of rolled, I flattened and folded once and it fits in my pack much better than a roll. Today I am hiking with teenagers who like to rock scramble by the river, with any luck one will sprain or break something and I can try the split out. (just kidding)When hiking by myself with hiking poles I do not bring as large a med kit so this stays home, but every full stock med kit should have one of these. There are also probably a million good uses for these that are not medically related to repair or support some aspect of broken camping equipment.

What's to say - it's a splint
Did not unroll, so this review is just from looking at it. Seems like quality. Weighs about as much as the "name brand"

A must-have for a survival kit
When I'm going out alone on an especially long or dangerous mountain bike ride or hike I always bring one of these along. It's like and easy to carry in a pack and works great for stabilizing breaks in the field. We used to carry these in the Marine Corps and I think they are essential for survival first-aid kits.

Great piece for the money
This is a solid aluminum splint for the money.Note that this not a SAM brand splint - it's the same basic concept however, and works well for the same situations. It feels a bit thinner than a SAM, but I'm not worried about performance, and you can always double it over or form a reinforced shape with it.The only other thing to be aware of is that (mine at least) did not come with directions of any kind. Again, don't let that discourage you: a quick Google/YouTube search will get you the information you need, and a video is probably more helpful than an illustration. Just take the time to learn to use the splint BEFORE you need it. Having the equipment is halfway prepared, knowing how to use it is the other half. Thanks for reading!

Works great!
I have trigger finger in my ring finger and pinky. This stabilizes them perfectly!
