White Mountain Puzzles Birds of the Backyard - 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

This puzzle was great fun and quite relaxing to assemble. The pieces are big enough to see details, large enough to know you have hold of, and easily seen should one piece (or more) accidentally get pushed onto the floor. Throughout the puzzle completion process, it was fun watching each bird take shape. For anyone who wants to learn more about common American birds, this is the puzzle that will help you do that. We enjoyed this so much that we passed it along to another family who are keen birders. This would make a great gift for anyone who enjoys working jigsaw puzzles.

I absolutely love this puzzle supplier. They have a lot of interesting puzzles with a lot of interesting graphics. I've completed several of these puzzles over time and always look forward to doing another one. In this case, for some reason, two pieces were missing. I am always very careful about keeping puzzle pieces contained, but I was concerned from the get-go when I couldn't find an edge piece once I was well into the puzzle. I checked all around the puzzle table, moved it, checked on the chair, etc., etc. I completed the puzzle without the edge, but found another piece was missing as well. I contacted the company and they were OUTSTANDING. I will continue to purchase from White Mountain simply because they make good puzzles and they stand behind them.

I bought this for my 80-year-old mother for Christmas. When I visited her recently, she was about half way through the puzzle. She said the border (including the birds that frame the puzzle) was relatively easy. She also had several of the more distinctly colorful birds pieced together.However, some of the duller colored birds and a lot of the foliage is a bit more difficult to distinguish. She seemed anxious for the challenge and told me she plans to take a picture of it before putting it back in the box.When I examined her work in progress (she was using two card tables set up in the family room), the pieces appeared to by not only sturdy, but also cut well. This meant that pieces fit together snug and it was very easy to move partially pieced together sections.PS: Mom, if you're reading this, I meant 40-year-old mother. (Sorry!)

We bought this for our 11 year old son for Christmas. He adores birds, and he's always loved puzzles. We thought with the white border, it would be a little easier than some. Boy were we wrong! This was quite challenging. All the beaks look alike! And where did that purple feather come from? lol But it really is a beautiful puzzle, and we learned some birds in the process. It took the full 10 days of Christmas vacation, but we finally managed it. I still haven't taken it apart. I really wish we had put it together on a large piece of cardboard or something. I have no idea how I'm going to pick this up intact.

This was our first puzzle as a couple. We haven't done a puzzle since we were kids and we're 50+ now so it's been a while. We have a 20 pound bird seed feeder in the backyard so this design seemed fitting. It took us two weeks of weekends and evenings. It was frustrating at times, but we enjoy a challenge. The wide border makes it two puzzles in one. It was easy to segregate the beige border pieces and do them first. Words on the bird names helped, too. The middle contained enough small color variety to help us find pieces by color (sometimes). Some of the cuts seemed creative, i.e. not quite on a strict horizontal and vertical grid. There were pieces we insisted must not exist, but then we found them as there were more pieces found around the region. We got many of hours of entertainment out of a relatively low investment.

I bought this for my mother's birthday and we completed it in 3 days. On a few of the pieces, the picture was separating from the backing, and the extra photo they give you is tiny and I had some eye strain putting the outside border together, but those are my only complaints. It was a very fun puzzle and I especially had a lot of fun with it as a bird watcher because I could recognize the birds on different pieces. With most puzzles, I look for distinct patterns and shades, but this one was different as I searched for specific birds. My mom had a lot of fun with it as well and kept it to put together again later, so it was a successful birthday gift!

I ordered this for a family member. It was poorly cut and the border around it was uneven and even missing on some pieces. I contacted White Mountain and they very kindly offered to send me a replacement puzzle. There puzzles are really nice. This one has so many birds I have seen on nature walks and lists their names as well. It is a great puzzle for any birder. My brother has ordered two or three more of the bird puzzles and they are really nice pictures. He likes them so much he wants to hang them up! Quality product, reasonable price and fast delivery. I love the White Mountain puzzles because of their superb quality and really lovely and interesting pictures. It is a joy to work on these puzzles because the materials used are high quality.

I purchased it for my Husband as an extra Christmas gift, and he was so impressed with how the pieces fit together so perfectly, each one unique so no fitting a piece in only to find that although the piece looked ok, ultimately it was wrong...the colours are so vibrant, it was a shame to take it apart. However, having purchased a different one for our Daughter..they'll switch later! I would certainly purchase again!
