As pictured, medium density plastic. I used it under my cupped to hold cat food and cat litter. The scoop it came with is good, not too flimsy.

I wanted an airtight container that could hold a large bag of rice, and this does exactly that! It's a simple design but surprisingly difficult to find for the amount of rice I wanted to store.Easily holds 15 lb bag of rice with space to spare.The open and close lid is probably the only area that seems a little weak, but so far no issues with it.The provided cup does not equal to rice cups so I switched them out for the one provided by my rice cooker. Keep in mind if you are using this for rice that a cup of rice is different from a cup found in a normal measuring cup. It's precisely measured for water content (as most rice cookers have water lines).I also use the knuckle test when cooking outside of the rice cooker which is why I didn't deduct a star as this method would work just as well with the provided scoop.Also the bright color of the scoop make it easy to find, so it's totally up to you, but it's more guessing until you get used to it as it's 1 cup is way over the rice cup (this is usual).

My 2019 resolution was to move away from plastics (storage and garbage bags, containers, water bottles) and, where possible, invest in glass, metal or compostable paper products. My family used to store potatoes, onions, and other ground vegetables in 20-gallon stoneware crocks. But those containers are the heavyweight beasts of food storage, and – though lovely – impractical for modern-kitchen spaces (you need a root cellar-type space to store that kind of non-movable weight and size).The one area where plastic has an advantage over the earth-friendly materials is in long-term storage of temperature, light and humidity-sensitive foods such as flour, sugar and rice, which is exactly how I use the three Komax bins I purchased. Although they are slightly opaque, I still drape a cloth over these bins to prevent spoilage due to natural light (also why root cellars are so effective).I’ve been using these bins for more than three years, and love their convenient shape, lightweight but sturdy materials, easy-to-clean surfaces, size and price. Storage that can resist bug and animal infestation is an obvious plus: I don’t have problems in that area – thankfully – and I want to keep it that way. The old farmhouse crocks had a clamp-style lid, and Komax has replicated this feature with a four-sided snap-lock lid that is almost airtight.The bins are stackable, attractive and convenient. I highly recommend this brand.

I bought this to store rice in an area where we've had some issues with rodents and moisture. Overall, this container works, so I have kept using it and not tried to replace it with something else. It is sturdy, it comes in the size I needed, it provides easy access to the contents, and it does seem to be keeping out moisture and critters. However, I have to pay very close attention to the latch to make sure it closes properly. Several times, I slapped the lid closed and thought I was done, only to realize later, when I went to put the container away, that the lid was open. If you don't push hard enough, it won't latch, but it also seems like if you push too hard, it will pop back open. It needs just the right touch. Which is just a little too aggravating for me to give this five stars. If the company redesigns a better latch for this container, I'll be first in line to buy it.

I have 3 dogs - small and 2 medium size and I feed them Fresh Pet; however, having bags in my refrigerator was taking up a lot of space and I am bit OCD about refrigerator organizations. It is just easier. I like to mix together so instead of pulling all the bags out - taking some each - it is easier. Definitely recommend. It fits in fridge very nicely. For those of you who make large meals for large groups, what I like is that it stores and stacks easily....like if I made tamales, it is a great place to place the meat after you make it. You can even store the tamales until ready to place in pot. Definitely recommend.

I like this for food storage — especially a bulk bag of rice!! It has keep food fresh and is very durable!! It’s a decent size but with how it’s designed it can fit well on a pantry shelf no problem!!

I am absolutely in love with this storage box. When it first arrived I was afraid that it was not going to work for my needs, because the design is so compact that it really doesn't look like it would fit as much as it does. However, I was delighted when I discovered that I could fit an entire 5lb bag's worth of rice into this bin. I also love that it opens from the top, meaning I don't need to worry about spilling rice all over my pantry floor.The measuring cup that comes with it is just okay, but that is not why I bought the product. So, I can deal with it for now, but I will eventually replace it for one with more of a scoop design.The lid seems to snap on securely, and when I was turning the box over and onto its side while reorganizing my pantry I felt secure that it wouldn't come loose and spill the contents. The bin itself is made of a very thick, durable plastic, and I am sure that it will last for a long time. I am very happy with this product, and I plan to buy a couple more in the future to help me organize things in my new home.

Love that it fits in my pantry but this product is advertised for 20 lbs of dry food and barely holds 15 lbs.
