This plushie has the softest fur imaginable. Fairly accurate in appearance other than being bigger than a real southern flying squirrel. 😀 I'm obsessed with him, as I can no longer have real squirrels.

So Cute & Soft
Purchased as a surprise gift for someone that had a dream a flying squirrel was after them, making them jump. We had a great laugh! Now this super soft, super plush, super cute, fellow sits on our headboard.

What a cutie!!
Just like everyone else who got this has stated, this Douglas flying squirrel is made of super soft two tone lush material on top, and solid white lush plush underneath. It's generously weighted too with plastic pellets in the back half of the body area and in the legs. It's also very flexible(hugable), not at all a 'hard sausage.' The tail is un-stuffed and floppy-wonderful. The underside of the body & tail areas are differentiated from the 'membrane' between the legs to the body in that the material is longer pile, while the membrane areas are shorter pile-but just as soft. I find this detail commendable by the designer/s. It's as if they took the time to care about detail. The one I got measures slightly over 12" from tip of nose to tip of tail and is wider than a large adult's splayed hand. The face of the plush & the plush in general are as pictured. The plush also appears to be well made. ~We've had flying squirrels in our bluebird birdhouses, and this little plush almost looks like them. Now I have my own! :)

Great quality stuffed flying squirrel
The Douglas Company really has a winner with this stuffed flying squirrel! I feed eastern gray squirrels regularly, and often in warm weather they sploot/lay flat on our deck in order to cool off. I never found a stuffed gray squirrel in that lying on the stomach position, so this flying squirrel more than suffices for me. I was totally surprised at the quality of this inexpensive stuffed flying squirrel. The fake fur has the touch and feel of my expensive Jellycat Woodland stuffed bear. The color of the fur has dark and light shades, depending on which direction you rub the fur. I especially like how this squirrel is weighted in part of the body and legs. Overall construction is outstanding!
