Fun even if you're not a Fortnite nerd - not your typical Monopoly
I certainly was not looking for another version of Monopoly. This makes number six. But I saw this while 'casually' looking for reviews on another version of Fortnite Monopoly. From the looks of it, it's the same game, just a "Collector's Edition." I chose this one because it came with metal player tokens instead of cardboard standups. I'm very glad I did! I've convinced Monopoly haters and not-Fortnite-fans to play, and all of them had a blast.GAME COMPONENTSEverything comes packed in a compact, square box with extra detailing, like recessed panels, to make it look like a supply drop crate which really made the Fortnite nerd in me happy. The game pieces are separated into two smaller boxes printed to look like a loot chest and an ammo box. The board looks like a typical Monopoly board but with OG Fortnite-themed spaces. The corners are the same as every Monopoly game. The art in the center of the board is terrific. As already mentioned, one of the main selling points of this version was the metal tokens. Coming from an old school Monopoly childhood, this was a must. The tokens are surprisingly well detailed and it's easy to tell who is who (if you know the characters). If you're curious, they include: Midas, Fishstick, Peely, Raven, Meowscles, Drift, Brite Bomber, Chapter 2 Default Jonesy, Cuddle Team Leader, and Lynx. Another feature I really liked about this version is that the HP tokens are plastic instead of cardboard chips. There is no money at all. Instead you lose and gain HP chips depending on where you land and the storm. It comes with Loot Chest, Storm and Wall cards. The Wall cards are an interesting mechanic in-game, but they are a little disappointing. They are creased in the middle to stand on the board, and you have to bend them pretty close to a right angle to keep them stable. There is one movement die and one specialty die. 2-7 people can play, and the age rating is 13+ (probably because that's Fortnite's minimum age). Game play is simple enough that someone younger could play, but complex enough that the adults I've played with enjoyed it.GAME PLAYInstead of buying properties and charging rent, you claim landmarks you land on which exempts you from losing HP when you land on them later - unless it's in the Storm. Players lose HP chips to the bank (not other players) and can restore HP in various ways. Loot cards affect mobility or give you items you can use to buff your actions. When a player passes Go or ends up in Jail, it triggers the Storm, and landing in the Storm costs HP. The 6-die is for movement, so the max you can move at a time is 6. The action die lets you attack a player, restore HP, use a Boogie Bomb, or Build a wall. The walls are a fun feature that can block opponents and keep you safe from an attack. One nerdy detail that really made the Fortnite fans I've played with happy is that when a player loses all HP, their loadout (from the Loot Chest cards) is left on the space where they were eliminated and the next person through picks it up.The last person with HP is the winner. A game takes about half an hour give or take.DIGITAL CONTENTYou get a code for Monopoly Token Bundle, which is a set of back blings. It expires on August 30, 2024, so be aware of that. If the code is still working when you get your game, you'll receive a great variety of classic and newer standard Monopoly pieces to wear in-game, a total of 8. You can see those here: https://fortnite.fandom.com/wiki/Monopoly_Tokens_BundleIDEAS YOU CAN USEI wished the Wall Cards had come in plastic for a more immersive and tactile experience, so I had a friend 3D-print little walls for me. What a fun difference! I also put all the HP chips into a smaller 2x3 inch paper mache box that fits nicely on the game board within everyone's reach - the boxes that came with the game are impractical for that, and it keeps the chips from getting scattered during dice rolls. I'll I plan to paint it like a produce box for the fun of it. Any similarly sized box would work as long as it can hold all the chips and fits into the game box.

One of the most high quality Collab monopoly boards!
As someone who collects special monopoly boards I will admit I was a bit skeptical of this one. However, as soon as I received my board I was surprised to see how detailed just the box alone was! The pictures don't do it justice. The box has layers to it making the loot box design pop out at you and giving it a 3d look and feel! I love all of the design choices for fans such as putting the games pieces in a chest and supply crate both from the game! The game comes with 10 high quality character pieces all designed after popular skins you can find in the game such as Cuddle Team Leader, Drift, and Peely. There's a wide variety to choose from you're guaranteed to find one you like! Each character token has the same metallic feel as the original monopoly pieces and surprisingly have a bit of weight to them! While the health point tokens are just plastic, they don't feel cheap at all. Some collaborative boards use pop out cardboard tokens while these are actual plastic tokens! The dice that are included are also very nice to look at. While one is just a standard dice, the other has detailed designs that are colorful and pretty to look at. Going on, the board itself is just so nice! It features different locations from the game as well as other aspects such as traps, boats, and campfires. On top of that the board is very colorful and just pretty to look at!Gameplay: while it might look like there's a lot going on with the storm cards, health points, building, etc. Fortnite Monopoly is very easy to get the hang of and one of the most fun times you'll have playing monopoly! Whether you're a parent looking to play with your kid or just someone who's a fan of the series..I can assure you you're going to have a good time! The rules are VERY different from normal monopoly but does a good job at being it's own game. One of my favorite changes is that players get to choose where they want to start the game rather than just starting on go. Players will take turns going around the board as usual except this time your goal is to be the last person standing. You can attack your friends or build walls to stop them in their tracks. The use of loot cards keeps the game feeling fresh! Everytime you land on a chest space you get to a draw a loot card giving you a special item to give you an advantage. Everytime someone passes go a storm card is placed in a random spot on the board. If you land on a space infected by the storm you take damage! This is honestly one of the most fun versions of monopoly you can play.TLDR: From the box to the board to the pieces everything about this game feels high quality. The gameplay feels fresh and is as a guaranteed for anyone whether you're a fan or not. A pleasently surprising high quality board game.

NOT regular Monopoly rules - thank God!
Wow! This game is so much better than I expected! We buy and play tons of games both with our kiddo and with our adult friends. I can’t stand Monopoly because it takes hours to lose. I bought this for our 10 YO son who likes FortNite, and was dreading having to play monopoly with him, but I supposed it is kind of a boardgamers right of passage, lol.The board is set up like a Monopoly board and has sets of properties, a jail and Go, but not much similarity after that. The properties match locations in FortNite and have cute, silly names. There is no money in this game - there are only Health Points which are small green plastic coin type objects. Once you run out of HPs, you are out of the game. Last man standing wins the game. It maybe takes 30 minutes to play once you get the hang of it and your game play changes each time based on the number of properties you can claim, etc. There is one number dice telling you how many spaces to move and another action dice that drops boogie bombs, lets you build walls, repairs health, attacks other players, etc.Properties are free if you land on an available one, but then you pay HP to the bank if you land on one that is owned. There are treasure chest cards and storm cards. Storm cards basically render spaces on the board unusable and more expensive to land on. Once you get enough storms on the board, players start dropping like flies. When a player is out, their loot gets dropped on the spot where they died, lol.Super fun game. The is a MUST BUY for your FortNite fans!!!
