not for arthritic hands or caregivers (imo)
Perspective of a caregiver: this is not "the one".Needs...1. finely grind 6-12 pills of various sizes and hardness ideally all at once per feed2. easy and painless for arthritic hands3. minimal dust clouds to prevent inhaling meds not intended for caregiverPros and cons of Pug:1. grind - definitely crushes to confectioner's sugar fine powder consistency - multi-pill grinds are problematic - big pills will crush but chunks often fly out mid-crush - small-medium pills sometimes sit and sit and sit in the notch designed to crush big pills which is really annoying because they are hard to dislodge without accidentally lifting the blue crushing stick especially for arthritic hands - multi-pills tend to make the blue stick skip and jump accidentally which makes controlling the blue stick frustrating2. size is too small - my hands are average size and my arthritis is still mild but I find the size difficult to hold onto while crushing but also having to press down to keep chunks from falling thru and especially so when crushing pills of varying sizes and density - this would be better if the entire unit was bigger by 1.5-2x and the grip knob was solid and rubber/silcone-ized (imo)3. dust - grinding produces small dust clouds which are easily inhalable which is okay if the medication is intended for yourself but not if you're the caregiver who doesn't need/want the med --- this might be solved if the blue stick had an umbrella/skirt-type attachment that covered the well as you grind which would also solve the problem of chunks flying out when crushing big pills. - cleaning the super-fine powder from the blue stick and white crushing well also raises inhalable dust clouds --- if you're crushing large amounts that's probably not an issue but given the size of this crusher it's not intended for large amounts and if your doses are small then powder left on the blue stick and in the white well will affect your dose - more powder stuck to the bottom of the blue stick and in the well than I expected (I suspect this is more or less dependent on air humidity) but they both need to be brushed clean every timeExtra minor annoyance: plastic of the container for crushed powder squeaks really loud as you screw it onto the well and doesn't seem to want to go away with use.Overall:If your primary need is for fine powder, this will definitely give you consistent super-fine powder if you can control the blue grind stick consistently. If you have arthritis in your hands using this may be problematic. If you're the caregiver not the patient, inhaling the med(s) is a hazard and I would advise wearing a mask while grinding and/or transferring the finished grind given how fine the airborne dust is with the super-fine grind.I haven't asked but I suspect given how expensive shipping was that shipping isn't free for returns so maybe ask or consider this before buying.

Works great, you just need to learn how to use it and to go slow
Yup, I have a hard time swallowing pills. Pill cutters make sharp edges. Other pill crushers will break your wrist before they crush the pill. Seriously! My wrist was hurting when I was using the old crusher. Next day I get this little contraption. I had my doubts to be honest, but I managed to crush a monster pill on my first try. Literally, into powder. The trick is to go slowly and when a bigger piece does not want to cooperate, you have to wiggle it into one of the two notches on the side. Then slowly grind just like turning a handle. So simple, yet so brilliant! I am grateful for this little gadget. I just hope it doesn't break. Maybe I get an extra just in case...

Does a better job than others but has it's own problems
The good news is that this pill crusher grinds pills finer than any other pill crusher I have tried so far and is much quicker and easier to use so hopefully should reduce feeding tube blockage experienced with other pill crushers and also should be easier on the fingers. The bad news is that it has its own set of problems as follows1. As others have mentioned larger/harder pills just break and fly out of the open top Mortar part. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was just half a pill that pops out when it breaks as you could drop it back in, but the pill shatters and bits go everywhere so you actually have no idea how much of the dose you have lost. This seems such an obvious fix I wonder why the manufacture is even shipping it like this as they must have known this would be a problem as soon as they tested it? The fix is so easy it just needs a cover/rubber boot fitted around the Pestle.2. The top of the Pestle is hollowed out and it just feels natural to put your index finger into that recess to steady it when moving it around but on my one at least there was small sharp pip at the bottom of the recess that cut the tip of my index finger the very first time I used it, at this price you would think they should at least be able to finish the product to an acceptable standard that doesn’t inflict pain on the user.3. There is something wrong with the thread on the catch Jar on my one, I struggle to get the thing started every time and I am sure it’s only a matter of time before it gets cross threaded and damaged.4. Worse still the little cap they supplied for the catch Jar to enable you to use it as a container to store the crushed pills in (nice idea) is made out of a cheap nylon type material which is distorted and won’t even fit on my catch Jar, again considering the price this is just penny pinching on material imo.5. I think this is way overpriced for what it is, especially considering the standard of workmanship and quality of materials used.

Pretty great little gadget
Works as well as I was hoping it would and honestly better than I was expecting it would. It’s easy to use, clean, and much, much faster than the mortar and pestle I was using before. 4 stars instead of 5 because I wish it wasn’t made of plastic (though it is still substantial) and because occasionally larger pills fly out the top when I start grinding.

Crushes the competition, minimal effort required to crush meds.
The engineering behind this pill crusher provides an easier to crush motion and minimal effort required to crush medicines. This is easier to use than a mortar and pestle while collecting the finished product in the container below.Great find - I am recommending to any that have to crush medicines.
