This is a review by one who is so pleased he can barely type. I ordered this item knowing that it may take some time to arrive from Hawaii, but much to my delight, it shipped same day, so the wait began. I watched with great excitement as it arrived at the various mail drops on the island and eventually was gently placed upon the transport for the hop over the water. I noticed the delivery date was scheduled for the 9th of May. No worries, until I remembered that I had an event to attend that day and had to leave at around 1pm. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I wouldn't be there for the arrival of my precious package from the magical islands. SO....... Being the crafty type, and by crafty, I'm not talking hammer and glue. I mojo'd that the hook would be here by the time I needed to leave my house. And BAM, 10 min before I needed to be out the door, a familiar sound assailed my senses. The wirrrr wirrrr of the mail man's vehicle. And there, as I watched, a glowing spirit of Federal Mail Delivery carefully placed my desire within the receptacle of so many other joys in my life via Amazon. My hook had arrived. I gleefully ran to the box and retrieved the treasure of the seas. I opened the package and spied a curious package within a package which contained 2 candies. Over joyed and delighted that I had something to snack on whilst I opened the main gift. As an aside, the candies WERE VERY GOOD! I carefully, and with some giddiness opened the plastic which contained the magic of the Hawaiians and unfurled the cord upon which it rested. A hook of the most wonderful and delightful construct. It was truly a piece of craftsmanship that spoke of generations of practice. Wonderfully wrought. The size is great. The carving precise. The lashing intricate and well executed. I must say that I smelled the salt of the ocean as the wind tossed back my long hair and knew that my journeys will be safe on land, or over the seas. Get yours. You won't regret it. I've wanted a necklace like this for a while. When I go to the beach with my son, I call him Little Kahuna. The cord work is intricate, strong, and comfortable to wear. The note I received when I opened the package was endearing. I'd recommend and order from them again!

I was just browsing Amazon to see what I could waste money on next while searching the word "Tiki" and came across this Hawaiian Hand Carved Bone Fish Hook necklace. I figured it looked pretty cool and was a good price for something handmade in Hawaii.It shipped very quickly all the way from Hawaii! Great packaging so nothing could go wrong, some sample Hawaiian candy. A nice almost postcard size explanation of the Hawaiian Carved Fish Hook and what it is suppose to mean.The quality of the whole item is excellent, the fish hook its self is nicely carved and extremely smooth. The hook part is sharp but you would never feel this while wearing it, only by sticking your finger in it. So if you wanted to or hand to actually fish with this hook you would be able too.The cord that it is on is braided really nicely and feels extremely sturdy..ya i like the word extremely! There are three beads at the end so you can adjust the length of the necklace.I am very happy with my purchase and hope to one day visit Hawaii while wearing this necklace.

It’s a great item , hand tied and hand carved , inexpensive,,, but the only curveball I see is it wade made to appear to be genuine Hawaiian but was actually made in China 🤷🏻‍♂️,,, Hawaii is a lot closer to New York than China is , I thought it would be a nice aspect having one from Hawaii,,, but I have no complaints

I’m from Hawaii. A malihini. Yes I have an old necklace that my daughter said she’d kill me IF I gave it to my 2yo grandson! Understandable. Not saying that this is better than the original! This is really a great piece! Worth the pride to show off!! Im sure he will cherish it. Thank you for the new “inheritance!”

My son had a hand carved cow bone necklace for years, but was getting too small around the neck. I bought this necklace as a replacement, and my son loves it. The only suggestion that I have for the maker is the "clasp" in the back. It is a slide clasp which allows you to make the neckace as long or short as you want, and it has 2 more round pieces on the ends. The material for these items looks plastic. This really downgraded the quality of the necklace. I love the craftmanship of the fishook and the hemp chain, however, overall it was rated 3 stars because of the plastic pieces.

Figured I'd follow-up on this. Bought it August of 2013 and as of October 2014 it's finally starting to fall apart at the wrap around the bone.Given the fact that I only took it off about 5 times since putting it on, this thing was a great purchase for $20! Between beach trips, daily showers, lots of sweat from being active, and whatnot, this thing held up great. Just added another two to my cart to replace the current one and as a backup for next year should it start to go again. I may dab a bit of adhesive on the wrap every few months just to see if I can get it to hold up longer; but will admit that this thing has seen abuse.Were I to have taken it off before showers I'm sure it would've held up longer, but figure it's seen the ocean water around 50 different times, 400-ish showers, and lots of sweat from laboring around the house. Definitely says something about the quality of the rope and design used to make it. It received many compliments and personally I loved the design and meaning behind it.Recommended.
