A must read for anyone with an Advaitic bent of mind
This book has been with me for a while but never got around reading it. But after the Bhagavad Gita and the first Upanishad and teachings of Kapila Muni I ventured into reading this Gita and I must say this is one of the most impactful books I have ever read. The essence of non-duality is so direct and hard hitting that it sets one thinking that how could such a brilliant exposition on non-duality be thought so many thousands of years back. Anyone who is interested in Advaita and non-duality will thoroughly enjoy this book and, hopefully, will give direction to live in the current world in a more meaningful way.The ability of Ashtavakra and Janaka to converse with such distilled thinking is truly wonderful. Of course it can be argued that there is a lot of repetition of the same message; but for me it is a reinforcement of that One Thing with many examples and parallels.

Outstanding Commentary
"Ashtavakra Gita” is an ancient text that is in the public domain. Cheaper versions are available, however, the Swami Chinmayananda edition is worth purchasing for the excellent commentary between verses. The commentary unpacks the verses and weaves in references from other Hindu scriptures that provide amazing context

Best commentary on Ashtavakra Gita.
In my opinion this is the best commentary of all Ashtavakra Gitas that I've read. Some of the others are somewhat dogmatic to commentators personal beliefs which differ from pure Advaita Vedanta.

Outstanding
This is how a 20th century saint interprets Ashtavakra from his own the state of realization. Simply awesome! Do not get distracted at places by his Victorian English. After a few pages, one starts to move with the flow. He also translates every single Sanskrit word, which is very helpful. There is another modern interpretation, Heart of Awareness by Thomas Byrom, which is very good. But this one by Swami Chinmayananda stands head and shoulder above the rest. There are lectures by Swami Sarvapriyananda on the YouTube, that are excellent. Here is II-25 from Swami Chinmayananda:Wonderful! Marvelous! In me, the limitless ocean, individuals, like waves spontaneously rise, jostle about, play for a time and disappear.
