Super soft...and totally nostalgic!
These were always a favorite at those summer baseball game snack stands. We shared them with our nieces and nephews over the 4th and they loved them as well. I was worried these would come and be all hard but they were fresh and soft!

Perfect!
It’s so impossible to read reviews and trust, there are some here that said not the same, weird flavor etc but I’m sure glad I purchased them. Fantastic! Just like the original as I remember them and well worth it. Oddly the seem to be made here in my home state now which is even better. Def buy them!!

Hard to find product.
Arrived well and fresh. Received cherry instead of strawberry. I dis not re-order because I prefer strawberry. Still, I appreciate the effort.

Definitely NOT the same!
I ordered these with the slightest hope they would be the same as when I was a kid, sadly, they are not. My wife has a birthday this week and we have been talking with our kids, they are 20 and older, and we were sharing memories of some of the items we enjoyed when we were younger. The Licorice Rope is one of the items we had brought up. I found these on Amazon, ordered them and they were delivered today. I will start with the appearance. The gauge is much smaller, they have a very shiny finish on them, and they were broken in many places. When we took our first bite we immediately noticed they are so much waxier then they used to be. They have a flavor that is very off putting. I would NOT recommend you order these if you are feeling nostalgic… they are too different. So sad and frustrating how so many things that were once good are now barely edible.

Great, classic red licorice taste.
Just like the headline says, these have the classic red licorice flavor that you may be looking for. These do NOT taste like any flavor of Twizzlers. They taste more like Red Vines.A couple small quibbles:The texture is kind of weird. They are too soft, for me. I feel like the old school red ropes were chewier, maybe a little waxier. This does not affect the taste, of course, but if you are looking for a total classic red rope experience, this might be a deal breaker. Also, they are too expensive. $23-$25 for 15 pieces of licorice? That seems high, but since these are hard to find, I guess you're paying for convenience and whatnot. I'm glad I got them this once, to experience a little nostalgia, but I probably won't buy them again at this price point.Overall, these are a four star purchase for me because they have the classic red licorice flavor I was looking for.

A flavor blast from the past
My brother and I used to buy this licorice (or one very similar) at Morrow's Nut House at Cloverleaf Mall in Richmond, VA. It is not strawberry or raspberry, but has the red licorice taste of Australian Scottie Dogs (it is not cloyingly sweet like many modern red ropes). The sight, smell, and taste were >>almost<< identical to what we had back in the 70s, and THEN I discovered one important difference. The licorice in this package is wrapped individually, so it is as FRESH as the day it was made. The licorice we had at the mall was unwrapped on open-air display. That 70s licorice was more maroon and deeper in flavor. When I left one piece of my new licorice out in the air by mistake (I cut each rope into smaller bites), I saw that it took on the darker color and more intense flavor making it identical to the mall licorice. For my friends who drink wine, some like it from the bottle and some will tell you it needs air. I like this licorice fresh from the package, or even left out for an hour. I am certainly a fan of this beautiful box of individually wrapped ropes and will be shipping some to my grown up "kid" brother today.Looking forward to buying and sharing my next box!

Size, texture, flavor
These taste old. They don't have the same soft texture of the red ropes I remember or how red vines should be.Second, it seems like these are a victim of shrinkflation. I remember these being w half inch thick. These are thinner. It may be relative since I was a lot smaller 25 years ago, but sitll...The flavor is good. They are the red vines "original red" flavor, so no complaints there. However, similarly to them tasting "old," as described above, the flavor isn't as strong as fresh red vines.
