I was hesitant to buy it based off some of the reviews, but if you have a slight bit mechanical ability you won't have any problems assembling it. The directions suck. I am using it for a 24ft above ground pool and have posts set 6in outside the pool for this to sit in. I cut the wheels off and drilled holes on top of posts. My 70 year old mother can reel it up, and lift it out of the way by herself. Really is a quality product!

Bought this along with the solar cover. While my pool is only 20ft wide, I bough the 25" wide instead to ensure the rods have enough overlap and do not sag. So far the setup has been very effective. While there is a very slight sag but not an issue.The only gripe I have with the system, assembly was made very hard due to poor directions.

This snapped in half after using for two summers and last summer was already very flimsy, not worth the price can buy cheaper for same product.After writing this review I saw that this product had a 5 year review so I reached out to the seller to inquiry about this. This was the response from this seller “ Hello, Thank you for your email. I do apologize for the real rod breaking. We do see that you did buy a new reel on July 11th, 2023. Unfortunately, it makes warranty for this reel null and void. I do apologize. Please do let us know if we can be of further assistance. Aleks W Customer Service Rep”So because I purchased an entirely new reel (we need sometime to hold our pool cover in the mean time because who wants to manually remove a 24ftx48ft cover manually?) AND the reel purchased is not the same reel? We are so confused by this that we’ll be returning the new reel and no longer using this company for anything. Who knows what they’ll tell us in another two years when the new reel snaps and they don’t want to fulfill that 3 year warranty. Absolute joke.

This setup fast, is sturdy and works great. We got a cover too.

I review a lot of products, but I think this one is needed.First the good. The reel seems well made, parts all fit together nicely and with the cover rolled up, middle sag is at a minimum. The gear mechanism makes operation nearly effortless.Now the bad - shipping, although free was terribly slow. Took over a week to arrive. Maybe I'm spoiled because I usually only buy Prime items, but this reel was not available as a Prime item. Once it was delivered I was ready to assemble it and get the cover attached. I opened the package, checked the contents, grabbed my tools and jumped in - this is where I must caution anyone who is not mechanically inclined. The directions are worthless. Not one word on the entire instruction sheet and even with the drawings that act as somewhat of a guide, do not indicate the order of steps to take. You are left to figure out what action is being illustrated and with multiple actions in one image, what order to perform them. I'm considered to be very mechanically inclined by everyone who knows me and I had to undo and redo half of the assembly just to get everything right.Finally the universal strap kit included is low quality and I had 3 of the clamps break while installing them.Overall - for me the ease of the gear operation is awesome and I'm glad I purchased this reel, but if I would have known just how bad the instructions and shipping would be, I'd save the extra bucks, order a Prime elidgable reel and use a little extra muscle to roll up the cover.

This is a great investment, works great is very sturdy, the only thing I'd do is change out the clips for those that are like clamps so as you don't have to puncture the cover. I found some and used carabiners from the hardware store to attach to the cords, it works great.

Ordered both a 16-ft reel and a 16-ft solar cover from Sun2Solar, but they don’t fit each other. The reel is barely 16-ft from usable end to end, and the cover is wider than 16 ft. Even if one were to cut the solar down to 16 ft, it won’t work because it’s impossible for the cover to be perfectly aligned through its entire length. This 16-ft reel probably works better for a cover with width under 15 ft or 14 ft. For Sun2Solar’s 16-ft cover, one would probably have to go with a 17- or even 18-ft reel. I’m requesting Sun2Solar to send a couple more connecting tubes to make it work, short of which I would have to retune it. It’s very time-consuming to put it together, and it would be a great waste of time if I had to dissemble it and return it. We’ll see.Update: I fitted extra tubes to the reel, and now it works well. My pool is a bit long (48 ft), so there’s a lot of weight from the cover. But so far so good.
