Super Cool Watch. Better Than I Remember!
I've purchased a few Vostoks in the past but it has been several years. Maybe it is just that I've aligned my expectations closer to reality, but this Amphibia is not what I remember. Like I have read elsewhere, it is a vintage watch being produced in the modern era and you have to put everything about the watch into that context. Once you realize that you can then appreciate how much of a watch you really get for the price.Chief negative point seems to be lume, and yes, it is nowhere near Seiko lume...but a lot of watches aren't. I'm actually surprised with the lume on this watch. Maybe the factory has changed formula or added another layer or two, but I can go outside and come back in and notice a glow. I can also easily see the lume at bedtime once my eyes have adjusted to the dark... and can still read the time 8 hours later.Accuracy is as expected and well within Vostok's posted specs. Mine is about +14 s/d and will likely settle down as the movement ages. Regardless, I'm not expecting COSC or quartz accuracy. It has taken close to 2 decades and 2 years in watchmaking school to get over my obsession with accuracy. I set this watch a minute slow and when it is a minute fast I repeat. The lack of a quick change date is another non-issue when you realize you can just roll the time back a few hours, then advance and the date will roll over.Other things like acrylic crystal and friction bi-directional bezel and more nods to the vintage era of watches and add to the quirkiness of the watch. And with so many case, dial and strap options out there (across the entire Vostok line) it shouldn't be difficult to find something you like.

Not for me
It hasn't worked right from day 1. I've given it several chances and it hasn't measured up yet, garbage.

Poor quality viewer
The quality of the watch's viewer leaves much to be desired, it scratches quite easily, I think it's an acrylic, what's the point of buying a $ 130 watch that is only going to look nice for a couple of months?

Underwhelming to be sure...
First of all the packaging (which I don't pay that much attention to usually) is spartan to say the least and I would go so far as to say lousy, even Invicta, at a cheaper price point, has a better product and packaging then this. Now on to time setting date setting, on unscrewing the crown and pulling it out, I notice a rather disturbing wobblyness and getting it to stay in position to advance the hands in order to set the time takes some doing. As far as being 3 position I couldn't find a number 2 position on stem only and unscrewed, number 1 position and a number 2 all the way out position. In any event when setting the date there is no quick set at the number 2 position, if there was a number 2 position LOL but you can advance the date in a sort of quick set by advancing the hands all the way around to 12 o'clock then reversing direction back to 8 o'clock and then back to 12 until reaching the date you need, which worked ok. The watch seems to wear small to me as the actual dial is only about 25mm, total circumference with bezel is 40mm, speaking about the bezel, on this watch I have the bezel turns freely both ways with no clicks, weird, it stays in place so far but doesn't take much to turn it freely either way. Overall a disappointing little piece of Soviet memorabilia I'd say, we will see how well it does on keeping time!

Marches to its own drum beat
The Scuba Dude is awesome. I know a lot of people Mod these, however the watch is an eye catcher. Everywhere I travel, it starts a conversation from how to say the name to the history of the watch. It's amazing how a simple look so good everywhere.the Con is that the band is a bit small so I did have to get one that fits my wrist. The watch is great though.

Do some research
"The stem is wobbly" , "there isn't a date quiick set", "dis aint wordt hudrit an thirdty boks",.... These are comments from people that float through life without insight unless it is practically in their nose.If you are on Amazon, you have internet. It is the most amazing and practical research source ever to exist. Use it.The wobbly stem is a safety measure in case of a hard collision with something. It isn't attached to the movement in a way that will damage the movement. The domed acrylic crystal helps the water proofing. It will expand (or distort?) In high pressure depths of water. Vostok watches,.unlike other brands, exceed claimed levels of water proofing. Maybe...... I have seen videos proving this. The date reset is annoying, but it isn't that hard to figure out the short cut. Google it. I have stopped worrying about the date when i wear one of my Vostoks. I have had one scuba dude 420059 lock up and stop running. It was fully wound and wouldn't start back after setting the time.and date (using the 12 back to 8 back to 12 method). I have yet to get back to fixing that......... Hey, I have a lot of watchesThese weird, Russian watches will, on the most part, run fairly accurate and for more than ten years without even a thought of servicing. That makes them worth $100 to $150.Though, it seems the quality is going down over the last 20 years. Since the west has discovered this brand, greed from the manufacturer is taking its' toll.
