The ear flaps are very warm and stay down in the wind but if it's really windy you can use the strap. The bill rides down a little but nothing compared to all the competitors. I tried them all both expensive and cheap and this is by far the most comfortable and attractive hat of this style (ear flaps). I bought 2 of them because they were on sale but I think they are high quality and will last like 10 to 15 years. I haven't tested the water resistance yet. The bill is big and protects your face a bit more than a baseball cap but it's a winter hat! It feels medium weight but very warm so far for the beginning of winter in NY. I will update as winter rolls on. This is a great value for the money. The size was accurate.

This review is for the green cadet-style cap with fluffy ear flaps. I purchased a whole bunch of winter hats to try out and this hat is the real deal. It has the warmest ear flaps of any of the hats I’ve tried. Nice quilted inner lining. Straps with nice snaps. Sizing for the medium was good. Quality materials and good, simple, well executed design.

I use this mostly for OHV because it really covers your ears, is buttoned on and the visor helps with the low winter sun. I got the largest size and often wear a beanie under it if it’s freezing. So it was a bit big on me and falling too low in my face until I discovered you can adjust the band. Better to buy a little bit on big side.

The lining is more plush than I expected and reminds me of rabbit fur. But do keep in mind, the fur IS man made. The fur is only on the ear flap but does go all the way across the flap. In other words when you wear it it keeps your neck warm too. The inner lining of the hat is black nylon with some sort of quilt material sewed in a diamond pattern.This hat is nice and warm.My hat is an XL. The true fit of this hat is the real highlight of the purchase for me. I have ordered other brand hats twice now of a similar design, and they were both way too small. Chinese sizing sucks! So finally finding one true to American sizing was a big relief. I have a big head. What else can I say?There two ends of a string that go all the way around the inside of the hat that you can tie to adjust the size a bit. I don't use the string myself, but I imagine that it would work fine to adjust the hat to your personal fit. (I know there's only one string showing in my picture but there are actually two string ends. I didn't even know there were ANY strings until I took this picture posted this review and finally noticed them. Oh well.)There are three snaps on the strap, giving you three different lengths of adjustment. So fitting this around your chin, you should be fine.This particular hat, of the three I have bought, is the only one that is not waterproof. It is a felt like material so I suspect there are no waterproofing properties. But that being said, I think the felt actually gives the hat a lot more comfortable warm feel.The shape of this hat has more squared off than round, and is reminiscent of an eastern block military hat, which gives it a more pleasing squared off look. It looks better than a round bubble style hat. My wife likes the way it looks on me. She is ultra picky.

Okay, I have to say I am surprised how much I like this hat. I am a bit of a diva with fashion and this hat struck me as...well...ugly. So why buy it? Because it is very hard to find a winter hat that provides any sun protection. The bill on this cap is a help so I figured I would give it a go for long winter dog walks. So, after getting used to the look of the thing on the shelf I am surprised how cute it is on my head. AND it is great for keeping the sun out of your eyes and off your nose. It won't help much with reflections off the snow so WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN but hey, every little bit helps. AND when the temperature really drops the ear flaps are wonderful. Admittedly, I don't look as cool with the flaps down lol, but in weather like that I am unlikely to see anyone else outside anyway. Ha ha ha.

I absolutely LOVE this hat! I use it for playing pickle ball outside in cold weather, and let me tell you this hat is fabulous. The brim protects my eyes from the glare of the sun, and the ear flaps keep my ears protected from wind (sensitive ears)! One of my best purchases this year. If you have cold weather where you live, and spend time outdoors for any bit of time, this hat will keep you toasty warm!

It's cheap. But warm. Can't complain about quality or looks when it's a good price like it is. My dad liked it.

keeps me warm and comfortable

I have an issue finding hats that fit on my small head as a small headed lady. The fit was excellent and the hat super warm, cosy and comfortable. I am however going to have to send it back because the shape just does not suit me at all. The sides of the hat are very straight and with the very flat top it looks very boxy and high. I have quite a small face so not a good look for me sadly.

The headline description is woollen, but this is a totally synthetic Chinese made hat.

First of all this is simply a base ball hat with a bit of fur stuck to the ear pieces, not warm at all and the strap is not long enough to fasten underneath your chin, waste of money, sent it back.
