Make Life Beautiful Extended Edition Hardcover – March 15, 2022

Was disappointed there were no photos within the book and that the actual book is smaller than expected. Overall, I did not pay full price for the book which is a plus and the book looks lovely as a decor item on my shelf. Lovely book cover.

Spoiler alert - it's not a coffee table book [but I knew that!] This is the perfect first book for from Shea and Syd McGee. I was very interested to learn how they built their offline business and paired it with a thriving community of millions on Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube. It's not easy to do! Many influencers fail to create a monetization plan and end up, not surprisingly, not making any money. They shared a lot of bumps in the road and hard choices that they made to built their online/offline business which is the future of business. Having multiple revenue streams with innovations and inspiration for the community is key. The McGees forged a path through the internet led by their hearts and mutual support - it's very inspiring!Work life balance isn't easy and neither is posting meaningful content on Instagram EVERY DAY. I'm looking forward to more from the McGees.I received a review copy from Harper and also purchased a signed copy to keep in my collection.

This is the story of two people in love - growing their design business and all the trials and tribulations it took to be a success in both the business and in life. I just wish there would have been photos of their style.

Like many others, I discovered Shea and Syd after binge watching the Netflix show. I'm a designer and don't usually watch any of the reality home improvement shows. They're often not based on reality. But I started watching this show because it seemed more real. From the surface, the couple seemed to have it all. Their life looked like they had lots of money to start their company. Their children and family seemed so idyllic. Like they had no problems at all.I wanted to learn more, so I found the Studio McGee website, their Instagram account and their Youtube videos. I started devouring all of their content and finally bought the book. I was so surprised to find out their journey was not easy at all, and was shocked that they sold everything to start their business, and even moved their home!I can't tell you how refreshing it is to know their path was fraught with failures and disappointment. I'm so glad they told their story because the TV show doesn't convey their challenges much. The book goes in depth behind their business, gives a lot of great lessons, not just for entrepreneurs and designers, but for anyone who may be scared about going after their dream and taking risks.Kudos to Shea and Syd! What an inspiration!!!

The media could not be loaded. I’m kinda disappointed in this book as far as pictures the pictures are small but I just got it for the collection of hers, an the book is in excellent condition to b used , overall I’m ok with it

People who enjoy this couples designs must have pushed this to The NY Times best seller list. It is a disjointed auto biographical story, his view - her view , of their life together and a design business they built - mainly because of her Instagram prowess. It quickly becomes a tiresome and boring read. Should have didn’t more money on a better ghost rider. I would have thought the lesson they learned from their first wed design disaster would have bleed over to this book deal. And if they wrote it themselves….well self-explanatory.The description led me to believe you would be getting practical advice on entrepreneurship and design/remodeling tips. As others have stated, not one photo.They each give different narrative of a remodel project with zero photos. How do I envision a process or a look with no photos.I am returning the book. I skimmed through and saw no advice or insight to justify the hefty price. I also think the 1500+ 4 star reviews are very misleading as most reviews I saw were 1&2 stars.Don’t waste your money on the book. A subscription to House Beautiful is a better investment.

Para decorar no me gustó

Types who should read this: interior designers, entrepreneurs, small business owners, start-ups.I love a good memoir but I was really hoping this book was not that, as you can find them everywhere. Lucky for me it is not! I am an interior designer just starting my business so I was looking for a book with real details, not just some feel-good one-liners. This was also a quick read, which again I was very happy about because many books on business & self-help say too much and usually nothing new. This book was 100% about their journey that still detailed both losses and successes, highs, and lows but it was done with the perfect amount of emotion with the right amount of practical information. Highly recommend!
