This was bought as part of my regular hardware platform upgrade for my Linux system. I still use "vintage" peripherals for specific tasks that are no longer mainstream. Newer desktop computers no longer have parallel ports built in. Finding a parallel port add-in that also supported Linux without fuss is becoming a trick. This board was automatically recognized and installed by my Dell Precision / Linux (Kernel 6.6.7) system. The only weakness of the board is that the parallel port uses up a slot in addition to the board itself. If you have a custom case with a 25-pin knockout available (I didn't on this go-around), this is not an issue. The serial ports were also automatically recognized and are 16550-compatible as well. I am not using the serial ports at this time so I cannot comment on their under-stress performance. If the PCI bus is dropped in my next motherboard I will have to look for another adapter, but for now, this board is a keeper.
